Trouble locking car
My key fob has not been working well lately. I do not have the comfort access option. They keyfob no problem unlocking my car, but doesn't seem to want to lock. I have to push it around 3-8 times to get it to lock. I've tried it at 1ft from the car and even sitting inside of it. There is no sound when I press lock, so I don't think it would be the actuator. Oddly, if I press unlock (while it's already unlocked) and then lock it usually works right away. It's hard to call it a key fob battery issue as it unlocks fine.

How old is the car battery? Any other electrical gremlins popping up? Could be time.

I got same issue. all doors lock with dash button. I put in 20 amp fuse in slot 57, reset battery but fob will not unlock, lock or open trunk. it will start car. no comfort access. is it time for new fob? I heard it's like 200-300$. has anyone successfully opened the fob and replaced the rechargable battery in it?

No second fob. I'm gonna try a fob battery swap first as that would be the cheapest option. I wish I had a frequency scanner to test if it's actually sending out a signal when I press lock, but alas I don't have that equipment.

Update: I successfully swapped the battery on the key fob, and have the same issue (granted the battery is low on power as I haven't driven long enough to recharge it). My EE friend tested the tact switch and it seems that the middle one (lock) isn't working. I put in an order for replacement switches and will update after we get and install them.

I tried a qi phone wireless charger and that didn't recharge it, but we did wire the battery to the circuit board of our product which has a charging circuit for coin cell batteries. It's now charged.
And I've fixed it!!! It ended up being the tact switch. I ordered this one off of Digikey: http://www.digikey.com/products/en/switches/tactile-switches/197?k=&pkeyword=&pv7=2&FV=8dc0378%2C182c0021%2Cffe 000c5%2C4080030&mnonly=0&newproducts=0&ColumnSort= 0&page=1&quantity=0&ptm=0&fid=0&pageSize=25 I replaced all three switches for longevity and with the battery replaced my range is now much better! |
