TIS Issues, anyone have access to rear diff replacement steps?

Having trouble with TIS

Does anyone have access to TIS and able to post rear diff replacement steps?

The rear diff on the M240 and axles is a little different than other models in that the diff doesnt have the stubs that the axles bolt up to

It appears that some gymnastics have to occur to get axles out of the diff before the unit can be dropped.....

BMW lists the replacement as a 2.5 hr job but.......

Any assistance would be appreciated

They just kind of slip in and lock, I'll look on my Bentley for the info but I did mine on 235 a few years ago and don't remember any hiccups, 2.5 book hrs sounds right.

How did you get the axles to release out of the diff?

I believe there is a retaining ring, it has been a few years, let me look at the Bentley and stock diff at work and I will report back with a photo or two.

I checked, snap ring behind the dust shield. The grooves are barreled like a rifle so you may need to put in gear and twist towards front of car while pulling once ring is removed.

Either of these help? They're for the M235i and I'm not sure if the set up is different with the M240i.
