M-Sport or Sportline

So I am new to the BMW world and I am looking to pick up a f30 335i and I have a few questions regarding the models. Correct me if i'm wrong but, if you have 2 335i's with the same options, but one being a sportline and the other being a m-sport, wouldnt the only difference be the steering wheel and bumpers essentially? Do they not have the same sport seats and m-suspension? Unless one has the adaptive suspension. I would assume the brakes are the same unless one has the upgraded M brakes correct? Are there any other differences that I didn't mention or not know about? if they were both stripped of options (except the model line) would all of those things be the same?

You get different wheels with the M sport. Also you get the blue key fob lol.

In 2015 the difference between sportline and M sport was basically the steering wheel, different trim, different bumpers, different wheels. Certain interior combinations weren't allowed as well.

M Sport is worth it just for the steering wheel itself.

Sportline can come with the M Sport suspension, on the M Sport it's standard. Both trims come with sport seats and (i think) increased speed governor.

I love my sportline but do kind of wish I had the M Sport steering wheel. I don't care much either way for the exterior trim items, I think Sportline looks fine, but keep in mind some pieces are designed to go with the M Sport Bumpers, like the M Performance front lips and rear diffusers.

The M Sport edition has also standard the Anthracite roof liner - sun visors - pillar covers and the exterior Gloss black trims around the windows and the side mirrors.

+1 as well. I actually bought and converted my Sportline wheel to the M steering wheel and it made quite a big difference in terms of driving comfort on longer drives.

Both Lines include:
  • 18" wheels with their respective rims
  • Shadow-line Exterior Trim (black trim)
  • Leather Seating with individual trim (Line Specific Stiching on seats)
  • Sport Seats (This alone is worth the additional $$)
  • Highlight Specific Trim Options (Red Sport/Blue M-Sport)
  • Dark colored headliner
  • Stiffer Suspension (RWD Models Only (704 Suspension))
  • Sport Color Display on dash
  • Signature keys (Red Sport/Blue M-Sport)

M-Sport:
  • M-Sport Front/Rear Bumpers with rear lower bumper trim
  • M-Sport specific colors (EBII M-Sport specific and some colors excluded)
  • M-Sport lower rocker panel
  • Exhaust Tailpipe in chrome
  • Mirrors same color as car
  • M-Sport Steering Wheel (some say this alone is worth the $$)

Sport:
  • Sport Front/Rear Bumpers with Black Trim
  • Sport has all colors but EBII
  • Exhaust tail pipe in black
  • Mirrors covers in black

M-Sport is more aggressive but Sport Line contains many essential elements as the suspension and seats.

If you get a manual, the m sport comes with a much nicer gear knob as well.

Could not agree more. M Sport steering wheel is very difficult to part with after getting used to it.

I personally think the M bumpers alone are worth it, they are two different cars. I would never part with my m bumpers even if the price was more significant. I remember when I first ordered my 435 before they were in dealerships(ordered it blindly, only judging by pics if I liked the new body) my dealer only had a sport 4 and I was very scared I was not going to like the body.

Get the M-Sport if you can. I got the Sport line back in 2013 when 328i didn't come in M-Sport here. I wish I did have that special steering wheel

The only other difference are the bumpers and the rims. Both trims come with anthracite roofliner which is totally awesome.

Go with the M Sport. My first F30 was a Sport Line and, while far better than the base model, I regretted not getting the M Sport. When my lease ended, I got the same car, but an M Sport model and I am very happy I did.

First F30 was a 328i Sport xDrive. Next F30 was 335i M-Sport RWD with Sport Suspension. I am glad I did the change!

The cars are aesthetically so much nicer looking as M-Sport. The front fascia of the non M-Sport cars is unpleasant, at best. I firmly believe BMW designs these cars with the M-Sport front end as the way the car is "supposed" to look, but makes it an option so they can charge extra for it. The front of the non M-Sport cars looks like an afterthought.

Exterior aesthetics aside, the steering wheel alone is worth the money. I supremely dislike getting non M-Sport loaners and having that hard, thin, greasy plastic thing instead. The biggest First World Problem ever: my loaner BMW doesn't have the nicer steering wheel of my regular BMW.

Definitely - every professional review of the M-Sport 3/4 series I've read has praised the steering wheel.

Are you buying new or pre-owned? If new, I believe there are add on options only available for the M Sport. If pre-owned, I would put more focus on condition, color, and options over line.
