cooling mods..
Id just like to know if their are any cooling upgrades for the e90 yet? On my ZHP I installed a aftermarket thermostat so the fan would kick on earlier. BMW engines tend to get very hot and Id like the statisfatication of having a cooler enegine. So im asking is if anyone has seen or heard of anything yet to holla.. Also I notice that my cooling fan goes on rarely after i turn my car off??? My question is how come it doesnt go on whenever im done driving or parking? Also consider that I dont use the AC all the time.

the E90 does feel rather warm when the car is stopped.
any feedback from other owners? The 2l 4 cylinder engine also sounds rather like a diesel car compared to the 6 cylinder engines, any comments? |

"the satisfaction of having a cooler engine" ? why does your opinion mean more than the engineers who built the car? just let it be, spend your money on mods that are worthwhile.

People sometimes changed the pullies in older bmws, which made the water pump run in a different way which made the car run hotter, this did not disturbe because bmws have a very powerful cooling system. What i am trying to say that it does not run too hot, bmw tests their cars extensively in death valley and on race tracks pedal to metal and they dont overheat. Nothing to be worried about.

The cars also have an electric water pump - and run at different temperatures (4 of them) depending on whether the car senses you are driving for economy or performance.

As said the N52 has varing operating temperatures depending on driving situation ( first BMW engine to do so).
This is controled via a ECU controlled thermostat and electric waterpump. The engine temp has a great effect on power and fuel consumption, and by running your old car cooler you are most probably increasing your fuel consumption.
