Thoughts on flashing DME + all modules. N54 335xi.

For the past few months, I've been having an annoying throttle surge while maintaining cruising speed on the highway. Always happened between 2500 - 3000 rpms. Never while accelerating or slowing.

I have Cobb Stage 1 Aggressive. It happens with and without the tune.

I've replaced all ignition coils, injectors, fuel pump, plugs, diverter valves, pcv valve + CCV hoses, walnut blast and most every vacuum hose and seal on the car.

So I figured I'd try updating the ECU with the latest SP Daten to see if it would help.

After a ton of research, and with the help of an old Windows XP laptop, I was able to get all of the modules updated as well as the DME. I also reset all the adaptations.

I used INPA to get all of the module codes, and flashed them with Winkfp. I did have to take out the ECU to verify the ECU family number. The biggest pain was getting the massive daten files moved over to the old laptop and unzipped and copied to their proper directories.

I hooked the car up to a microprocessor controlled battery charger set to "maintain" and used a K+DCAN USB cable. The DME flash took about 10 minutes. The other modules took a bit less time.

The software update definitely helped with the surging... I would say it's 90% gone. I'm thinking I still have a small boost leak somewhere. I'll find it someday lol.

Anyway, if anyone has any questions about setting up your laptop to flash the data, let me know.

When you say "all" modules, were you able to flash the Tel60 module with winkfp and a dcan/kline cable?

I actually only updated the ones that I thought could be related to fuel delivery and/or engine control. I did not update the TEL, although I would imagine it would have updated as easily as the others. INPA did list the ZB number for the TEL.
