there's not much out at the moment for the 240. Only real kit I've seen so far is for the m140i which is essentially the m240i and it's from Powervalve in the UK. they have a midpipe and exhaust for the car.

Cat-back would replace the midpipe as well as the muffler. This means you lose the resonators that are mounted in the midpipe as well.
With the axle-back option it maintains the factory midpipe so you get to keep the extra resonators if you're worried about being to loud.

There is only 1 Sport Cat downpipe that I've seen for the 340 which would work on the 240, however it has been out of stock for a long time now and I don't see it coming back. Good thing to note is that even a Sport Cat downpipe isn't 100% guaranteed to not throw a CEL. It has less of a chance compared to catless because it still has some sort of catalyst, but it can still through the CEL. Only 100% guaranteed way is to maintain the factory downpipe.

Also, only a JB4 is capable of clearing the CEL from a sport cat or catless downpipe when considering piggy back tunes. Not sure if a flash tune would be able to remove the CEL permanently or not.

Great info! I think i'm going to go with a catback. As far as downpipe, I wonder if the factory one is good enough. I heard the stock one is not that bad. I wonder what the power/headache from cel ration would be lol. I wonder if any companies would come out with a flash tune yet or piggyback would be the best to go.

The factory one is good don't get me wrong. The problem though is that it's still restrictive. Because of this, going catless can potentially open up 60+ horsepower at the crank. Not a bad bump when looking at a $300-500 performance part.

In time someone will have a flash tune, however the downside with a flash tune is you can't flash it back and hide the fact you had a tune. The ECU has to be opened which breaks the seals and means the manufacturer will easily notice this. With a piggyback, such as the JB4, you can unplug it within 5-10 minutes and be completely back to stock for a service appointment, or 5-10 minutes before the tow truck comes to pick your car up from the side of the road because you blew a gasket. The JB4 has some serious gains and is always being tweaked to be better. The JB4 price you pay gets you free updates as long as they are being developed and it also allows you to put in a Bluetooth adapter to have extra gauges on your phone to see your boost pressure, IRTs, etc. which are good for preventative actions before romping on the car.

Personally, I'd say go piggyback. If you plan on going catless DP, then JB4 all the way. If you want pure simplicity of removing the tune, then there are a couple more options out there like the Active Autowerke-8 piggyback and the tune from Dinan. All produce gains, all take about the same amount of time to remove as the JB4.

So Catless DP it is.. Therefore at the moment I will have to stick to JB4 it seems lol. Now from your opinion should I wait for more options to come around for the catless DP?

They're all basically the same. It's a pipe that doesn't have a catalyst inside. Really not much different among them besides the company that makes them and the quality of the materials and welds. I got the JB4/BMS intake/VM Catless DP from x-ph.com from their combo. Great products and I would highly recommend.

Well I already got the intake so jumped the gun a bit lol But I will take your advice on the rest. Quick off topic question. Do you know what intensity the headlight bulbs are? And are they D2s bulbs?

No idea unfortunately. Best person to ask is your SA or the parts department. They'd have a better idea. If you got the Xenon like I did, they look like 6k so white with a very slight blue.

Hi,
Catback has midpipe, axle back is the rear section only.
Catback options will give you more aggressive power vs axble backs.

At this all the available options are catless.

If you have a Jb4, it will suppress any code

Didn't know akropovic released one for the 240 yet. But those sound about right. Not sure if magnaflow is still working on theirs or if they didn't get enough interest. There's also power valve in the U.K. (though I know you specified the US, it could be shipped to the US)

It's a good price for a BMW exhaust. But an exhaust shop could do the same thing with a generic muffler for probably 1k. Doesn't mean it'll sound as good though there's always a trade off

Have anyone prefer to use BMW M235i MPE over the M240i MPE? Since the M235i MPE still has the exhaust valve in it. Also it is the same fitment correct? I remember reading it somewhere that it fits the same.

I'm kinda of leaning towards the Remus Catback but want to get a bit more info on the akrapovic exhaust. I really don't mind loud and my neighbors are spawns from hell so I think it would be a great motivator to get the loudest one.

Continuing with the REMUS system, i found this video of a 340i (B58 engine) with the Remus catback system with resonated midpipe (front section as Remus call it). Pretty good i think. I would expect even better sound in our M240's because of the aditional tuning of the engine.

They're also selling an even more agressive non-resonated midpipe and the catted sport downpipe which Remus call it Turboback system.

This is how our cars are meant to sound:
