G30 at Berry Heathrow

Saw this, it was in an area that said closed but the door was open so I went in regardless

The launch preview is on Feb 9 at Berry Chiswick. I'm going, really want to see this IRL.

One has arrived at Lloyd BMW in Newcastle, UK. I was only shown and allowed to explore it because I was ordering a G30. They had to drive it into the show room for me and drove it back into the garage as 'it has not been launched yet'. I was able to enter it and it is definitely more luxurious that F10. The instrument display is far better , the dashboard is covered with artificial leather. Its boot door is lighter, ambient light is great. The i drive screen is sumptuous and rich. Outside it looks bigger than F10 (probably the effects of wider front and backlight clusters), more mean in stance and the back view is much better and more muscular. I love it

Th ordinary LED light as in the above picture would be hard to differentiate from current xenon light on F10 and might even look worse as it does not have the eyebrow indicator light but incandescent light as the indicator. So I think it should be ordered with full adaptive headlight .

I would also recommend reverse assist camera as the car seems so big and luxurious and I would hate any scratch on the rear bumper with the lovely rectangular double exhausts.

I agree, Full LED Adaptive headlight should be the first selected option.

First car I've seen with the m-sport interior alu trim with black upholstery.

When there is a budget limit, this is not so easy... I must say I ordered early, and thought the default lights for the G30 was the Hex style lights, and that LED adaptive merely added the 'adaptive' part...

Anyway... I do believe it depends on how 'good' the standard LEDs are... my view is that there are other priorities, e.g. VDC before adaptive LED... IMHO

This is almost identical to my order, minus the sunroof and X-Drive & Harmon Kardon HiFi (correction:I see blue stitch on black leather which I have) I also have reverse camera/VDC)

I hope the black fascia around the controls is not standard on the M Sport... it is a fingerprint magnet, looks awful (update, it is an optional extra I see, not standard, excellent)

The Bluestone metallic looks more grey in this artificial light

Berry Heathrow is my local BMW, will go and have a look too

How important did you think the VDC was when you ordered, and why?

Of course, personal preference does and should take priority. I was speaking more from my own perspective, I just feel the new hex LEDs are one of the more distinguishing features from F10 and feature top of my "wants" list.

Is Berry Heathrow the same as Berry Chiswick?

I agree on personal preference...they do look much nicer However if the standard ones are not so bright, then it is functionally 'needed'. (I have Halogen now on my F10, I believe the standard LED are 'OK')

Berry Chiswick is different.

It was my first Item on my list for my G30.... the most important. I omitted it on my current F10, and even though I deleted M Sport suspension the ride is quite bumpy and noisy over UK roads I use... sometimes painfully so (I have 18" as well).

My test drives were in cars with VDC and it was night and day... unfortunately I chose other toys and regretted it ever since.

Is the centre console lockable ?

From the pics I can't see the centre console keyhole (like the F10); Is it lockable? I hope so!

I don't recall seeing that, from my last look at the F10 it's noticeable but it may be tucked away somewhere.

There is no lock shown on the parts system, unlike on the F10.
The new 7 Series is the same, no lock

Glovebox has a lock

What is the VDC option code? Would it make more or less of a difference on 19"?

Code 223, even more important on 19" (more of a difference, since there is less profile to absorb the bumps, VDC is almost a must )

Thanks, that's a real bummer. I lock my iPod in there etc. to plug into USB Media etc. - Unless they moved the USB devices to the Glove Box ?

You mean the black fascia around the HVAC and gear leaver?
I believe it's like that on all G30.

I am sure the black trim pieces in the photo is standard on all G30 interiors.
Which I agree will attract fingerprints and scratches!

You can specify Piano Black instead of the brushed aluminium parts, which maybe the optional extra you are seeing. (or ceramic finish to the controls)

Yes I thought that might be the case.. However don't think it looks like ceramic, since the IDrive controller is a matter black. Have a look at the BMW videos... Those surface all look matte
