Mods to increase power of 2016 328d sports wagon

I am choosing between 2016 F31 328d and 328i sports wagon. I have negotiated a good deal on fully loaded 328d and wondering if there are mods to improve power or if its better to wait and find 328i that fits my needs. I currently drive F10 535i and I fear that switching to diesel engine sports wagon will leave me wanting more. Any feedback is appreciated.

Thx

piggyback or flashtunes are the best bang for the buck power available.

i am not sure if either are available for the diesels.

contact GSR Technik in anaheim and see if matt has flashed any diesels. if they do you could just drive up from SD and have them flash it.

if you want it removable then do the piggyback alternative.

Going the diesel route will make your mod list shorter for sure.
We do offer the Wagner intercooler for your car

Many piggyback options (racechip, megaspeed, etc.) Dinan recently released one. See threads in diesel subforum http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=488, which is where your thread was moved to.

Very few DDE (ECU) tunes are available, as the DDE has to be bench tuned with jailbreak methods.

Definitely test drive before going the 328d route.. you cannot compare the car with a 328i even less a 535i.. Unless you're ok with a lot less power and you want to acheive incredible gas mileage than I don't think you,re going to get any satisfaction with the 328d.

I love my car but at the same time I know it's nowhere near a performance car. I just love the comfort and luxury it offers me.

I didn't buy my 328d for its performance. I did, however, buy the M-Sport Package so it can look super cool as it gets 45mpg. The pull and torque from it is awesome even though I'm still in the boring break-in period.

If I could do it all over again, I'd go diesel again. It's a niche wagon that will hold its resale value probably higher than any other vehicle in BMW's fleet.

same reasons I bought my 2014 328d sport wagon. i was able to drive a 328i sedan when i needed to have some repair work done. i still prefer the diesel due to the reasons above. if you want performance from a diesel, I guess the previous generation 335d would be the best option for you.

I see you've made it over from TDIclub as well.. I'm continually disappointed by the lack of actual information on BMW forums. We'll see if that changes.

Have you perused the M57 diesel forum on e90post? It's several years older with a corresponding greater knowledgebase. There are some pdf docs there that tell a lot about the emissions system design, etc. (Just checked: there are 5 pages of threads here, 99 over there.)

But don't forget a couple things: 1) BMW diesels in the USA/CA have unique properties from European diesels, which means that there is a far smaller base of information. 2) Fewer BMW owners are DIY folks. 3) It's much harder to do EGR PDF SCR deletes on BMWs than TDI and meet emissions testing - the ECU (DDE in BMW Diesel-speak) has to be bench-flashed to eliminate all the checks.

Prior to the 328d coming over, only 10,000 335d's and about the same number of X5d's were sold USA/CA. How long has TDI been here? Give us a break.

Oh, I didn't mean just diesels! I think TDIclub was a bit of an anomaly. VWvortex is equal to any BMW forum in terms of actual useful information (0.01% of posts).

I think you hit the nail on the head with this..
