JBX and BMS Filter Install - Anyone with experience?

I just sold my SSTT and bought the JBX with the BMS filter. I handled the SSTT install but that's not saying much since a chimp could do that one. I was wondering if anyone within an hour or so from RI has experience with this and would be willing to help out?

Thanks,

Steve

Steve,

Just installed my BMS filter a few days ago. Very easy, sounds great. Happy to give you a hand. Want to use my garage?

That would be great! Terry Burger said it would be easier to install the filter while I'm doing the JBX since the cowl will be off. Are you willing to attempt both with me or have you not done the JBX install and just want to stick to the filter? Either way, I'm in!

Thanks much,

Steve

Thought about getting the JBX myself, went with the SSTT, installed that last night. I'd be happy to help out with that too. Doesn't look too hard. Just let me know when.

Why are folks moving to JBX from SSTT? I'm about the pull the trigger on a SSTT and wouldn't mind a few 'local' opinions.

I started with SSTT, then bought a used JB2 from a member (pretty cheap). Both are pretty even if you ask me... you will feel more power/pull with the JB2 at higher RPM. I end up keeping the SSTT and sold the JB2 to a friend and he loving it. Both are great product

I switched for more power and the fact that with the JBX, I can adjust settings based on the octane of the fuel I am running. For install it and forget it, the SSTT is great but I wanted more. With JBX, I can run JB2 plus up to 2 hot pills and an 'R' switch for when I have race gas in the tank. The JB also works with other mods better than SSTT. I got the BMS filter and intend to get DPs. The dynos have shown better gains with the JB coupled with mods than the SST with the same mods. Lastly, the JB adjusts AFRs while the SSTT doesn't.

Air to Fuel Ratios. They can't be adjusted by the SSTT because it's not in the ECU. The downside of the JB is that you have to get into the ECU and rewire it in order to get modified AFRs but they result in richer ratios at the higher boost level with the JB.

I wanted to take a moment to thank Tom publicly (twhitestone) for installing both my JBX and the BMS filter today. He did a phenomenal job and everything went in without a hitch. I had a huge smile on my face all the way home just listening to the new air filter swooshing while I pegged the throttle and enjoyed my new found power with the JBX set at about 60%.

Tom is a stand-up guy who helped a fellow BMW enthusiast with no questions asked and without ever expecting anything in return. He is a true gentleman and is was my pleasure to meet him and enjoy his company for a few hours toiling away in the engine bay of my car.

Thanks Tom.
