Passenger mirror auto dimming function

Can anyone confirm if the passenger side mirror has an auto dimming function? Mine seems to only dim on the driver's side. I tested it out by shining a light at the small circle on the rear view mirror. I read a thread that BMW has removed that feature on 2017 models. I just installed my oem carbon caps so I double checked the connections. My driver's side mirror has an outline along the edge where it dims and the passenger side does not have the outline.

I believe it is market and not model year dependent.

Edit: ends up Canadian MY17's don't have it so I've fixed this post. My MY16 does though

For us U.S. owners, can one swap the passenger side mirror from the Left hand driver mirror and get dimming on the passenger side as well. what else would need to be done, wiring?

It is super annoying that it is only on the drivers side. Why would this be region based?

The Swedish BMW site specifically mentions it is only on the drivers side too so it isn't a mistake in assembly.

My MY2016 doesn't have either exterior mirror that dims. Dealer says both should have it, but neither do. Only the interior mirror dims.

Weird. Mine definitely do, I've tested it with a light and another car's beams.

Ordered my M2 in October 15 & the option sheet said 'Mirrors, plural'. Took delivery of an MY17 in December, October '16 build and only the driver side is dimming. Dealer checked the current options and it does say deep in the T&C that is is driver only despite the headline still saying 'Mirrors, plural'. Asking for my £285 back as I it was 14 months from signing the order to delivery....

It's on my Spring clean-up list. If they won't dim, the dealer will replace them. My windows are tinted now, which helps, but the interior mirror still dims, the sides do nothing.

In the UK the rear view mirror is dimming on the base spec. You had to spec folding mirrors go get dimming side mirrors. However if you read the T&C carefully BMW does say it's passenger only....the Service Manager has confirmed that there is no passenger side dimming glass available for RHD - in all markets.

Yeah my passenger mirror doesn't dim either. '17 M2 here.

I think it's a safety thing not cost cutting as others have suggested.

I've had other cars with a dimming passenger mirror and it's very hard to see objects properly in the mirror when it's dark outside and the mirror is fully dimmed.

Although yeah it could be cost cutting. Would be nice to hear from someone in the know.

On my US Spec 2017 M2 only the drivers side is auto dimming, I switched to Euro aspheric mirrors, and the stock passenger side is heated only, no auto dimming.

I don't know why it is region based, but if you are always in the right lane traveling, or in the center or left lane passing, the car you passed would fade out anyways. If your argument is that you are seeing the car behind you in the mirror, well you don't know how to properly set your mirror...
