B58 Dinan vs JB4

I know its a bit early, but does anyone have any views on the two compared? Dinan is a couple hundred cheaper than the JB4 but the JB4 has more history from what I see. I'm thinking of giving one of these a try.

Thanks

Thanks - I literally started my research now. I'm not looking for something crazy. This will be the only powertrain mod that I do. I won't be using methanol or anything else like that. Does it still matter that the JB4 has more features in that case?

I'm just looking for a bit more torque really (i'm addicted to it now) . TBH i hardly redline the car.

Also, I use the OBD2 port to power my V1. Do i have to choose one or the other or is there an OBD2 splitter where I can use both?

Honestly if you aren't doing anything else I'd do the dinan. Plus the dealer probably less likely to give you a hassle over it.

As far as the obd port goes I would just hard wire it elsewhere but I'm sure there are splitters made if you desire

JB4 hands down. Constant development and feature updates plus when flash tuning is available, the JB4 will be updated to make use of a back end flash.

I'm dealing with the same controversy, I'm not doing too much modding because I don't want to pressure the engine and I don't redline that often. I've heard that the jb4 has been giving people lots of trouble and for the b58 it's still in development, as were the dinan is finalized. I think I'm gonna go with dinan most likely because I'm just doing intake

It was my understanding the B58 is finalized for the Dinan sport tune only. Their Dinatronics piggy back tune isn't ready yet. That is what they told me. Maybe it's different for a B58 3 series vs a B58 M240

BMS is also working on a B58 JB+ system for those wanting a simple plug and play tuner with a little kick in the pants, expect to see more info on that soon!

So jb+ is stacked onto JB4? Or is it standalone?

The JB+ is an inexpensive tuner that installs and removes in under 10 seconds, and BMS allows a one year period for trade up to a full JB4 system. If you have a JB4 no need for a JB+!

That's the one I'm looking for!

I have a JB+ in my '09 135i w/N54 and I was greatly surprised at the quite noticeable improvement especially at full throttle at rpm went up.
Where the power would start to level off and drop a bit stock, the JB+ would give a very nice hit and pull higher up the rev band, or at least it felt that way.

I like knowing that it wasn't stressing the stock tune and fuel system, and daily driving was as smooth as stock.
EASY install and removal. GREAT product.
When it's available for the B58 I'll be contacting you guys.

Thanks!

I spoke to the dinan rep and he said it doesn't match warranty obviously so you have the same risk as the JB4 might as well get a product with way more features and performance if they both don't have the warranty coverage that's my 2 cents I was looking at both once I found that out it was a no brainer

I'd venture to guess that the JB product will always have more features as they get passed down from their N54/N55 development to a degree I would think.

This is true but there are model specific features as well in development. The JB platform is almost approaching 10 years so there has been lots of development and R/D over that time.
