Quick obd2 scanner question.

Lets say I have max of 1200$ to spend on a obd2 scanner, i want a decent size screen something that will be used on multiple cars. What would the best scanner be to go with? I was looking at autel.

You need a BMW specific scanner to pull all the BMW shadow codes
a generic off the shelf scanner won't do it.

The cheapo way as far as cost is concerned is a k plus d can cable
and a lot of time to download and set up the software and learn to steer requires a pc
it. The software you need is the Inpa suite and or ista d/p
see coding subforum
http://www.e90post.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=368
or the general forum this is the stereo forum.

Next is the Carly App and there dongle.
around 120 bucks

Purchased a bluetooth obd2 for 12$ connected to carly, gotta purchase the pro app. Are there any threads that show normal voltages for o2 sensors and stuff?

That's whats nice about Ista D it's a shop manual and has suggested
trouble shooting procedures.
Or you could try to google a Bently manual for BMW's.
Carly should be giving you error codes if something is wrong.
Its best to look on the Engine and maybe Coding subforums for responses
on this.

I just think its odd after replacing coils, spark plugs, new own valve cover with all new gaskets, fixing air leak. my idle goes from 550 to 530ish and zero to little throttle hesitation. I just wanna run up the live data, I found a carly pro apk so I will try that tomorrow.

Checking out a manual now, found a link to read the pdf. I will read up on it within the next few days.
