Seeking touchscreen console advice
Hello,
Apologies if there is a good comparison thread in here. I spent some time browsing but couldn't find one in the past few months. I am looking to upgrade my stock non-logic 7 stereo (manual transmission and non-climate controlled) to a touchscreen system. I've had a look at the Dynavin N6 but thought I would also ask for input on whether anyone had recommendations on other modules I should consider. Thank you in advance. P.S. I am in Canada so if anyone has any additional experience with getting the product here that would be welcome. |

Dynavin has the best OEM look and functionality (get the N6), but any decent double Din can be done too.
Here is the pioneer double Din in my car.

I just ordered one from Aliexpress. 6.0 android with the usual features. It was 325 Canadian shipped, if you wait several weeks i'll be able to tell you what it's like. They have some that are only 245, but those are windows based and don't have all the apps the android does, according to my research.

Quote:
a) quality/reliability (I've heard stories of some not working after a couple of months) b) audio quality (many cheap Chinese units don't use the same high quality audio processors - so functionality may be the same, but audio quality will suffer) Hoping none of those apply to the unit you bought. Keep us posted.

BTW, if either of you are in the GTA, there's a meet in Markham going down tomorrow night. I'll be there and can show/demo my Pioneer double din.

I will take a video of the base stereo playing one song, and the new one playing the same song..
I bought the focal 130's.. Too good a deal to pass up and i don't care if focal's are surface mounted, they look great. Got two 8" ibus Focal's for under the seats, and a pioneer 1200w gd8604 4 channel to run everything. I am wondering how i should set up the subs, either left and right, or bridge and run them the same.. I'm sure some tinkering will be done. My only concern is what i'm going to have to cut for the focal's. |

I was about to pull the trigger on a Dynavin N6, but now I'm interested to wait and see how this Aliexpress unit goes.
I like the idea of an Android based system and the amount of functionality it brings. Plus it's half the price, and with the CAD/USD rate at the moment that is a lot! |

I got my HU today. I'm in the process of installing it.. However i hooked up to test and see how it was.. it's Andriod 6.0. 325 bucks canadian, and i'm impressed. It loads fast.. There a ton of options. I'll post pics and vids as i complete it.. Tonight is amp, underseat focal ibus 8's, and Hu.. Thursday is me butchering my doors to get some focal KR 130's in them.. LOL
Question though, should i hook up the underseats on the rear left and right since i'm not hooking up the back deck speakers, or should i bridge the amp and use the sub out? TIA |

Definitely interested in how it turns out. Glad to hear it boots quick, but curious about audio quality as well as Bluetooth quality (audio and phone). Keep us posted!
Re: underseat woofers, depends on the power output of your new HU, and how clean it is. Assuming it's decent, powering them as rears from the deck leaves your sub out available for a potential sub down the line. You could use that to power the under seats, but some decks may not give you much flexibility on the crossover point, and you'll probably want the under seats to play higher than just sub frequencies. Good luck!

I have an amp.. However just the new HU sounds better than the old with music from usb.. Audio quality is good. I do have to purchase a mic. I will say this, currently the antenna is not great, it will be something I have to trouble shoot.. There is a bit of static when nothing is playing, however i'm sure once everything is thru the RCA's this will be remedied..

If you're in the GTA, I'd love to see/hear your setup once it's done.
May want to upgrade my double Din at some point... the pioneer starting to get dated.

Antenna problem figured out.. They sent single Fakra, it requires double for better antenna reception.

Where are you located? I'm out east in Oshawa, but once the weather gets warm will spend more time in the city (plus car meets, lol)

Sorry to reply so late. March was a rough month. Really appreciate the feedback though.
That Aliexpress 6.0 looks pretty great. Would love to hear how it's working after a few weeks and if you encountered any issues beyond the antennae. |

Nothing but the antenna.. Haven't had much time to sort it out.. Just researching it now.. A bit of noise, but i'm pretty sure its just wires touching somewhere.. Other than that it's fast, works well, i'd recommend it, especially for half the price.

So it would seem the antenna problem is caused by the class d amp, I'm assuming the noise is also caused by the same thing.. With the amp off, the rear speakers have no noise, and the radio reception is perfect.. Probably going to find an A/B amp instead.

I've been looking into Android headunits as well and it appears that the Joying ones are the best. They use an Intel Atom CPU and have 2gb of RAM so you can actually run two apps at once lol. They cost a little more ($437 CAD) but might be worth looking into:
http://www.joying.ca/android-car-rad...l-control.html They get a lot of attention and support/updates on XDA as well: https://forum.xda-developers.com/and...oid-head-units My biggest concern is fitment of the climate control panel at the bottom. I know the Dynavin fits well with some trimming so I assume it's the same for the Android units: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1016187 |
