How in the heck do you adjust the height on the adaptive led? I've looked and searched but can only find the side to side adjustment. My passenger side is lower than my driver side.

After the excellent adaptive Xenons in my E91, I've gotten to the point where I use my foglights with the LEDs when there are no street lights, just for turning purposes.

Agreed, I have the adaptive LEDs and they can't compare to my E92 projector adaptive xenons. I miss the cornering lights on my msport too. Personally I think BMW went cheap with the LED reflectors

The Standard LED's are JUNK, my only complaint about the 340. On an unlit country road without the highbeams on I feel that at speeds over 25 mph by the time I see something it's too late to avoid hitting it. I also have Track package so no fogs to supplement headlights. I will absolutely upgrade these suckers as soon as a viable option is available!

Starting to hate BMW because of these tactics ... Their standard equipment are always poor quality
No point in getting a BMW unless you plan on buying additional packages which will raise the price quite a bit making the car overpriced

My pre LCI 328i had the standard xenon headlights, and I found these had a better spread of light than the LEDs on my LCI 330i.
Seems strange (although oddly unsurprising) to me that progression in this area isn't always forward. : |

Just an advice, it might be different with the F30 Adapative LED. But when i adjusted my F36 Adap LED, i noticed both of the left headlights (low beam) adjust together... and unlike the adjustment i had done in my previous HID cars (only 1 headlight each side for low beam), when you adjust left, you are actually increasing the height to your visibility (height) on the right side. Apparently, one of the left low beams is actually aiming to the right.

It is located in the inner housing of the headlight, kinda like a 3rd LED headlight. Very noticeable when you come to a completely stop and trying to make a left or right. |

Reading comments here and elsewhere I'm a bit worried about my coming 340i with LEDs.
My current pre lci xenons are great. Correct me if wrong but in Europe and Australia low beams with more than a certain amount of lumens requires headlight washers. My new car doesn't have headlight washers leading me to conclude the LEDs are not as bright. Any other reason? |

One of the biggest selling points on my GC are it's adaptive Xenons (standard). I wouldn't go without them now...

Yeah I have a 340 coming in around late April and have to admit all of the headlight threads are read on here are disheartening. I love the xenon's on my STI now--guess I'll have to look into a xenon upgrade for the 340. If anyone has any solid xenon recommendations for 2017 340s, please share!

Using the fogs helps a lot to see to the sides on rural roads and poorly lit urban areas. The car can also be coded to use the fogs on high beam.

How do you code that? When we are in rural wooded areas, the fogs really help see deer on the side of the road, but still want the high beams. My E91 already had that ability.

I went three months without realizing that I didn't order the lighting package on my new 2017. Ugh. The standard LEDs are a step up from my Passat with halogens.

I have an issue with the testing criteria that IIHS used. They rated the Prius with upgraded lights as really good (whatever that rating was). The Prius with the higher-end lights is a horrid thing to have behind you or shining directly in your eyes. Way, way too bright and aimed just perfectly to cause blindness (likely less annoying if you are in an SUV). The auto-dimming mirrors in our cars is a godsend of a defense against cars that have overly-bright lights.
I looked at their list of cars that did well when the first of these threads went up, and all of them are cars that blind the crap out of people. You would think IIHS would be smart enough to think about the impact on other drivers these lights have, but their test was only about the driver of the tested car. Also, and I hope no one takes offense, but the HID's on e90-series BMW's were very much on my list of "way too blinding" when I was driving my old RSX-S. Even without being tail-gated, both of my side mirrors were overly affected when a BMW from that era was behind me. I've driven my standard LED 340i over some very dark and twisty roads, and I didn't have an issue. In my nearly one year of ownership, the standard LED setup has served me very well and I think they are a good compromise between visibility and not blinding other drivers. |
