Extended Warrenty or Maintence plan for G30
Is any body planning on purchasing the extended warranty or maintenance plan if you plan on keeping the car? I would think the car would give no problems till 100,000 miles. I saw this very interesting graph where it stated the manufacturer knows it car and knows the car starts failing at Zone C. So Zone A is the included warrenty and maintenance. Zone B is extended. Zone C is what we want covered, but what BMW won't give you in extended warrenty.

Yes, It is true, First in UK, you would not get comprehensive or named component BMW insure warranty if you want to start the insurance after 100,000 mileage. You only get driveline insurance which pay up ta maximum of £5000.00.
My F10 that was almost completely trouble free from 2011 to early 2017 but developed a timing chain problem when the mileage was just 100,200 miles whilst I was waiting for my G30 to arrive. The dealer still collected the car for a cash back as promised when arranging the deal for my G30 but at £500 less than the original agreed price. I have never seen sense in buying new and not keeping the car or leasing with upfront payment/part exchange. This time around I would drive my G30 less than F10 so that I would not reach the 100,000 mileage fast. I am not sure the 100,000 mileage rule applies to the Japanese cars. My Honda Accord diesel did 170,000 miles trouble free as well as my Mazda 6 petrol did 210,000 miles trouble free. |

Thanks for the detailed response! Yeah I had the same feeling. Till 100,000 miles, we should be good. I don't understand people that complain BMWs are unreliable. If you follow the maintenance schedule, they should last. Of course it won't be only oil and tire change. They are not Hondas or Toyotas but that is the trade off you make for the best driving machine vs the most reliable machine. |

Though I still use BMW but I do not believe the 'best driving experience' should be at the expense of reliability. Since we are paying for the 'best driving experience' with higher purchase prices to start with.
Moreover, BMW has deliberately overpriced their spare parts and labour rates which make the unreliability difficult to live with without warranty or an indie mechanic. |
