Installing B58 DP
Receiving my new car soon, a 340i Xdrive. I'm about to pull the trigger on EPH's package deal. Intake and JB4 won't be an issue to install. For those of you that have installed a downpipe (VRSF) on the B58...please chime in on tips.
Tools/Supplies: 8mm 13mm 17mm T30 or T35 Copper High Temp Anti-seize Swivels and extensions From under the hood: Unplug O2 sensor Remove 2 bolts holding DP in place Loosen the Vband clamp From under the car: DP to exhaust clamp Bolts holding exhaust up Allegedly the hardest part is slipping the catback clamp on the downpipe when installed. Removal of the right wheel might make life easier. Does the above sound right? Do I need any gaskets? If so, part number/vendor? I'm not crazy about the JB4 auto code clearance. Can someone recommend an O2 spacer that works? Last edited by Montego92; 03-13-2017 at 02:29 PM.. |

Edit: sorry just noticed you were going with VRSF. But I believe they are both sized the same. |

Looking at a CP DP.. just staring really and wondering about my warranty.
but it appears you would be safe to get a gasket and the turbo-DP clamp since its recommended by ISTA to replace when taken off.. gasket is $15 clamp double that checkout realoem.com |

Ok, I've heard hit or miss on the gasket. I'll get one just to be safe. The clamp is recommended to be replaced?

I'm eyeing one eventually and have it in my notes
the gasket is a no brainer ..if the gasket isnt able to reseal .. we got a problem the clamp holds the dp to the turbo .. if it warps or the bolt strips we got a problem Houston.. cant put any DP on at all yea those two I have noted to get its possible to reuse both I suppose but I'll spend some $$$ to be safe cause Murphy has his sight set on me over the years.. Murphy seems to ALWAYS get me when I'm not prepared |

I'm going to allow 1500 miles of break-in prior to installing the JB4 and downpipe. I'll do a full review and install thread (with pictures) once complete.
Now to find a meth kit! Last edited by Montego92; 03-15-2017 at 02:36 AM.. |
