Can car insurance be put on hold?

If you're seling your car and have a month or so until the new one arrives, can the car insurance be put on hold?

Should be able to, yes. But different insurance companies have different procedures in place.

I suspect that as insurance companies want all the the money from you that they can get, the answer will be no. If it's a month or so, you may just have to take the hit of paying for insurance you don't need.
Depending on how far in to the insurance period you are, it may be worth cancelling and taking the small refund (if you've paid in advance). However, if you are near the end of the term, it might even be best just to ride out the loss for the gain in 1 year NCD. You'll need to do the sums.
