Coding to HIFI vs DSP, Difference?
Is there a difference between coding to HIFI vs Connecting a DSP? I've had high end components while my sound system was coded to HIFI and it sounded really amazing. So will an MS8/Bit Ten for example make a difference?

Both the units you mentioned in one case is no longer produced and in the
other case is very outdated. Hard to get comparisons but one guy on here went from a jl 600/6 to a helix 82 dsp which is less watts per channel and said he liked it better he did have a set of Jehnerts. (he did have hi fi to start with) I think the thing is you do need better speakers to get the advantage of any of this stuff. I would look for a Helix or Mosconi DSP/amp if you want to go to the next level and you already have good speakers capable of handling decent power. |

Same amps, speakers everything but adding a DSP rather than just coding with a computer to HIFI (Flatten the signal via coding) |

Some people will say yes some people will say no.
Using an amp to drive another amp seems like and inelegant solution though. I wonder if the range is limited on the DSP though. There is a noted high end installer on this board that says it makes no difference. |

If you want the best sound code to hifi (flat response) and use the dsp.

I've witnessed what a DSP can do and it's much better than just coding to HIFI, a DSP will adjust the acoustics and give the sound system a more "Surround" feel.
It's really nice when you can't tell where the sound is coming from and that's a what a DSP is there for. I've heard an MS8 (£500+) and an MS2 (£15!!) and they both give the sound an incredible boost. The MS2 is an excellent value for money if adjusted and set properly |

IF you go aftermarket, then start by coding to "HiFi", from there you get a flat 4Volt pre out of your headunit to feed any DSP or Amplifier that run with Balanced input signals.
It is for sure the best basis to start from and can give amazing results compare to any OEM system. |
