Coilover or ARB first

Hi All,

I have pretty much down selected to KW V2's coilover and H&R ARB for my f30 328i msports with EDC. Was wondering if I had a budget constrains, which should you reckon that I do first. Installation are not too expensive where I'm at so not a major issue. Would I be happy with just doing one or the other eventho I'm fully aware that the functions are very different.

My major issue with the f30 is the body roll and also the EPS which is extremely lights when negotiating high speed bends and corners. Coming from E90 with Kw v3's and H&R ARB with hydraulic steering has been a torture especially when its so much quicker but yet handling is less than optimal. Would love to relive the days of heavy and tightness of the steering which gives me so much more confidence steering in to corners.

Lastly plan to do VO coding to remove the EDC error code, is this really a complex thing to do and if there are any thread to share would be great. My indie mention that I need to change some rear absorber mounting as part of the coding exercise so that the ECU is cheated in to believing that the EDC still work but I'm finding it all too puzzling. So I'm having some 2nd tots about changing coilovers now due to this coding requirement. Would I be happy with just the H&R ARB's.

Looking forward to hearing your comments and thoughts.

I have Bilstein B14s and the H&R rear bar. Changing the coilovers first would help to reduce the body roll by a lot (Very noticable).

Hi

I went for H&R ARBs, then KW DDC coilovers.

I should have done the other way around, first upgrade your coilovers, then if not enough increase ARB stiffness.
Especially considering how difficult the work is to change ARBs (lowering of the subframe is necessary, 6 hours job)

H&R are too stiff for my liking (19mm rear especially), I'd advise to go for either the M240i ARBs (15mm rear/25mm front) or a set of KW ARBs (16mm rear/28mm front).

looks like i should do the coilovers first and then only the ARB's. was inclined to go the other way round first was because im trying to keep the adaptive suspension due to warranty. so was hoping that arb would be vast improvement and fingers crossed i wont need the coilovers.

given the coding complexity, i'm just torn btwn these 2 mods. essentially if EDC was not a concern i would just do both at one go. oh well decision decision....

Why not go for KW DDC coilovers? They work well with EDC

Have you guys heard of Hotchkis ARB?

It has 32mm on front ;16mm on the rear.

Also, Hotchkis made the ARB for Dinan company.

If you want coilovers without edc and can't sort the coding why not use an edc delete kit ? quite straightforward to install and work !

No but the sizes sound right per my feeling, go big on the front, but not too much on the rear.

Kw dcc are abit out of my budget and to pay usd400 for the cancellor kits seems exorbitant hence Vo coding seems bang for buck as long as I get someone to do it and its safe.

Re: arb yeah I'm reading the rear thickness on the h&r could be an issue for stiffness leading to reduced comfort. But h&r is an established brand name w loads of positive reviews

Eibach and KW aren't exactly unknown either, but their ARBs are 16mm rear, not 19. BMW's M235i is 15mm.
Just make sure to ponder that, because it's really a difficult operation you don't want to do it twice.

I have a used KW edc deletor for sale. I found someone to coded mine out because I still get an error whenever I do 3-5 hotlaps at the track.

Let me know if you still want it, I still have it attached to my car.

let me know your indicative price, happy to consider if price is right. how is the steering feel after over riding EDC? similar to sports+ or more like comfort, im hoping its heavy like in sports mode or even heavier is fine. if its too light then kinda defeats the purpose of upgrading suspension
