Fastest order to delivery...

I've been driving BMW 5 series for more than 20 years ( from E39, all bought new), and experience has been that it normally takes around 8 weeks from order to arriving at the dealer...

Ordered a 540 exactly two weeks ago...was made over the weekend, should leave factory today, expected at dealer before end of the month...

Either the factory is short of orders or they are building everything they can for end of the quarter!!

Your dealer must have managed to get a slot bumped through. Nice one! you'll benefit from the lower taxes!!

Same order date as yours for a 530d with 26/6 as delivery. Dealer slot for the speed record seems the obvious explanation....

Hi there..

I have ordered car 22.2. and in my contract is "latest date" 15.5. but if I read it carefully I can find the dealer can make it 2 more months later if they need..
I sent them email with question if it would be in April and they reply "it should be as soon as possible we can do. We dont have it confirmed from Germany yet". Means they can call me it will be July..

My full story :
half december I have ordered 440i GC -> half of march
On Jan they called me there is 4 GC facelift and old one no more in production -> half april
On Feb they called me I got some conflict in equipment which they can't produce -> f*ck so I go for G30 (22.2.) -> 15.5. (hope sooner)

So I wait for my new car pretty long time..

Not a 5 series, but February 28 (Order placed) to March 9 (at dealer in Texas) on my wife's X5 has to be an all time record.

Your spec must have had to have been built already and just cancelled by someone....?

I believe X5 comes from North Carolina assembly line. It should be faster than a car being shipped from Germany.

Spartanburg, South Carolina. Still remarkable nonetheless.

Sometimes you are lucky and a dealer has a slot open due to a cancellation and can change it to your specs.

For the G30 here dealers only have slots months in advance currently, but if you are a good customer they will inform you if an earlier one opens up.

What is fun when you have a factory near you is how short it can take .from production to delivery

I had to wait 9 Months for a Individual paint 3 Series once to be built, but it was delivered to me 2 days after final assembly.
Talk about new car smell

So if they are giving me an estimated build week of 14 (April 9-15) , when should I see movement out of 112 to 150 Status? Is there any rhyme or reason?

Should change around a week or less before the car is finished.
Its when your wiring harness goes into production, meaning you can no longer make changes, as its custom built foe each cars spec.

OK it just goes to prove you can't make some people happy... for long anyway.
People who have been getting their cars: how accurate have the "estimated completion" dates been while in production status? Has there been any play of +/- days in the estimate?
With a date of 4/6 I will likely not get on the boat scheduled for 4/10, and the next one is a life changing 8 days later...
