Hey fellas..
Taking possession of a CPO 2014 428i tomorrow, and I'd like to put some drilled rotors on there as one of the first things I do to car, but I really have no idea what to get. I'm assuming that since the car is CPO, I would need to have the dealer put BMW specific rotors on, yes? Last edited by ooshnoo; 03-23-2017 at 08:23 AM.. |

Is the car blue m sport brake or regular floating calliper? If it is regular brake, do u want to change to m sport or brembo? U said u want drilled rotor, so i assume u like the look. It will look a lot better if u pair it with fixed caliper m sport/brembo brake. I think the most cost-efficient way is find a third party shop to do it for u if u are not capable of doing it yourself. Replacing just rotors is easy but replacing calliper is trickier because u need to flush the brake fluid as well. It can get real messy. There are many aftermarket options for cross drilled even slotted rotors out there. You don't necessarily have to go for OEM M-Performance brake kit (slotted but the drill holes are not through, more like indentations) or the F8x brake(not slotted but drilled) |

Being a first time BMW owner, maybe the salesman was feeding me a line of BS, but he said that if brakes are replaced with non BMW parts, warranty would be voided. I've done many brake jobs, and it didn't quite set well with me when he said that. Then again I also got a helluva deal on the maintenance plan, and that includes the brakes, so maybe I'm stuck regardless.

Rule of thumb - warranty will not cover mods or component failure resulting from mods. Salesman is partially right and he's feeding you a line that sounds scary.
If you get OEM parts they are covered by a separate part warranty. 2yrs I believe. |

That said using the maintenance plan for brakes is ridiculous considering how easy they are to work on and how much better they are once you upgrade pads. Rotors you are better off sticking with blanks.
