Noise levels.
As the G30 has been widely lauded for it's refinement I thought I'd share my week long experience:
Wind noise - middling. There is a constant low level but audible buffering around my right ear at any speed above above 40mph where the wind deflected from the wing mirror hits the driver's window. It's not bad but it is noticeable. Road/Tyre noise - very good. Barely noticeable and much less than the M-Sport I had with 19'' runflats. Engine noise - very good. In summary, it is a very quiet car. It's probably due to the absence of any road or engine noise that the wind buffering is more noticeable than it would be in another car that had other ambient noise. |

If you're hearing that wind noise at speeds as low as you say, then I think there is something wrong with the seals / positioning of the glass or door frame.
Good to hear about the low road and engine noise though. I'm probably getting a 3 litre lump, but only for (i) more power and (ii) availability of adaptive drive. The 4 cylinder diesel installation in the G30 is super-refined and I would be very happy with it day in day out |

I noticed some noise near my right shoulder when I took the test car out. I think it was as op says though - the rest of the car was more quiet so the slight noise from the door area was more noticeable.
Should be fine with music etc on.

noise insulation
Noise insulation will be a very important criteria for me when changing my 535xD F11 Luxury.
Good to hear it seems ok, but I still do not understand why BMW are still not offering a "laminated side glass" option, as Audi/ Mercedes/ Porsche do. This would be trully effective in damping the wind noise. If I am not mistaking, it was an available option on E39 models. On my F11, I am quite satisfied with engine and tyre noise supression, but not so for the wind noise. |

To be fair, I've had cars with dual glazing (2 layers of glass, clear plastic layer sandwiched in between) - a couple of A8s, a couple of Phaetons - and I don't think even they completely eliminated wind noise.

This laminated glass also can have a different thickness: between around 4 mm (as I had in a Renault Laguna), up to about 6 mm (as I've seen on a Audi A7 front doors, or the out of production Citroen C6). And usually the thickness of the laminated side glass is not mentionned anyware; in 2014, when I bought the F11, the alternative was a A6 Allroad, and no one in the dealership could tell me thickness of the glass; they demanded to Audi France and (apparently), to Audi in Germany, and still nobody could come with a clear answer (they just assured me "it was the best quality the industry could offer" So, in the end, different thickness means different sound insulating quality I guess. |

I also noted the relative quietness coming out of my e61 on a day with wet roads too.
