Is SMART, Tyre and Alloy wheel insurance worth buying?

I was wondering if these insurance are worth getting for a new car?

I am thinking of getting them through ALA along with my Replacement+ GAP insurance.. has anyone ever taken benefit from any of these?

Garage List
In my opinion, wheel insurance worth depends on:

a) How clumsy/careless you are with parking/driving.
b) If you have diamond cut wheels, in which case - no.

I just took out the tyre insurance with Pickles (GapInsurance.co.uk) and got a 10% discount and will probably get their Gap insurance as RTI

Not taken benefit from any of these and wish I never have to.

I don't bother with Tyre and Alloy as I'm careful with parking and I've only had two punctures in ten years (touches wood).

SMART on the other hand has paid for itself many times over as I'm always getting stone chips and small dents.

Get a quote from Frank Pickles (gapinsurance.co.uk) - you'll get a 10% discount if you mention bimmerpost.

I got replacement GAP for £146 (25k, 3 years) and scratch/dent for £176 (£10 xs, 1 panel, 15cm, 3 years).

I mainly wanted cover to 'pay off the finance' and the difference in premium to RTI is fairly minimal and should the unfortunate happen then I should have some money for a deposit moving forwards - my deposit on my F36 was also fairly minimal (£1k)

How likely is it that your car will be a write-off and un-repairable in the next 3 or 4 years? I think you need to ask yourself 'in all your (and family's) years of driving have you ever had a write off which would result in a pay-out?'

mind you, for an upto £50k car its about £200 for RV cover - about £140 for an RTI

I normally go with finance gap but the RV was so cheap it seemed rude not to. Agree about the likelihood of claiming though.

Definitely buying SMART after I have had so many chips on my previous car and idiots smashing their doors in the car parks.

Thanks for the info, will give them a call today.

My deposit was 1k too so I am trying to choose the best option. There isn't much difference in the premium between RTI and VR from the quotes I have had so far..
Does the VR pays the cost for a brand new car or does it just replaces the car with the same spec, mileage you had the time of the write off? Does it also pay the balance left on your finance?

If you never have your car written off it doesn't mean you can't have it next day or next minute. Best example an idiot driving thorough a car park and hit completely innocent girl and her car is written off. She was very careful trying to leave a car park but he was driving with no consideration of others with excessive speed. No matter now who was at fault the fact is at least one car is badly damaged.
