Downpipe with JB4 for 440i (B58)

Hello again everyone,

Sorry for posting too many questions but I need suggestions from the experts! I am planning to either purchase VM downpipe or VRSF downpipe for my 440i. Can you guys give any advices, any ups/downs if you are or had used any of these downpipes? Nearby BMW specialist shop is charging $200 for installation of downpipe which i believe is fair. Please recommend!

Thanks

I chose the VRSF. When I got it, it looked like an unskilled welder put it together.I started a (rhetorical) thread asking if it was acceptable. The vendor responded back by saying the misalignment was perfectly normal, as if I were stupid or something. I had to break out my Dremel and clean it up the best I could. Not something a person should have to do. I guess you get what you pay for. I'd recommend going ER. Anyway, that's my experience.

I have ER. Yet to install, hopefully next week, but build quality is great.

Wait, I thought this downpipe is just bolt-on? What car did you use it for?

Is ER bolt-on? Any issues with your state Inspection having catless downpipe?

I plan on getting ER as well. I've seen others and the final finishing isnt as nice. VM and vrsf both have lifetime warranties but they just aren't as pretty. I also like that the ER has the tab that bolts it into place like factory dp

Btw do I have to change settings in my jb4 to auto clear the catless check engine light?

And if you have no friends then its a $15,000 fine for you and $50,000 fine for the shop which did it
I believe theres a difference betw failing emissions and tampering with emissions equipment

It depends on the state. Perhaps he is only using the vehicle for off-road/track purposes only. I know the majority of forum members with downpipe's and other modifications do not drive their cars on the street as they are not Emissions legal.

We don't have emissions checks here but we are supposed to have a cat. But since they don't check, no one does.

I have had my er downpipe for 9k miles no issues . install was spot on great welds. Install ran me 150 so 200 is still fair.
I am very happy with it , hope that helps

It auto clears with the jb4 , no need to do anything.

Same performance gains. both are 100% bolt on, no cutting or wielding needed. VM has a smaller diameter than VRSF (no difference in real world results). VM has a better finish but also more expensive

Yup the ER pipes go on pretty smoothly.. Should be an 1-2 hour job for a decent shop.

Can anyone confirm if the catless downpipe from a 140i / 240i will fit an F31 340i tourer?
