Talking 540i xdrive finally ordered :)

Hi All,

Finally thrashed out a deal on a new 540i xdrive and I couldn't be happier!
Delivery will be w/c 22nd May which I'm over the moon about Other dealers were twice as long as this.
Going to sign paperwork and confirm spec in the morning but so far my spec is as follows...

Bluestone
Ivory or Black Dakota - will hopefully decide tomorrow
Trim - unsure, maybe aluminium but probably piano black
Variable Damper Control
Harman Kardon
Head Up Display
Comfort Package
Adaptive Lights with High Beam Assist
Parking Assistant Plus
Gesture Control
Sun Protection Glass
Comfort seats
Heated Steering Wheel
Split-Folding Rear Seats

Undecided options are...

Driving Assistant - really like speed limit display/road signs but can't buy these individually anymore
Nappa Leather - love this in my current merc but at £750 I'm still not sure
Rear Seat Heating - this will probably go but nice to have

Remote services and concierge will no doubt be added later if necessary.

Any comments on spec or obvious missing items are welcomed

Now the wait begins...

What?! I ordered like a month ago and have a date in June! You've got a savvy dealership I think...

Does anyone know if the lights in the 'Visibility' pack are the same if you order them separately? It says 'ICON Adaptive LED' in the vis pack but doesn't say what they are separately??? Are they LED or Xenon? Any thoughts on which are best?
I'm trying to save where I can hence not going for the full package. I hate the headlight wash system.

Hmmm maybe there is difference in Icon adaptive led and full adaptive led.
Icon may be only the day lights but the full led are high beam too.
Also I think the only full led has the new design of bmw lights.

First thoughts are to add Nappa, much, much nicer place to be!

Gesture control - Wouldn't bother at all.. I have it, absolutely no need or use.

Drop H&K and Sun protection glass and add M Sport Plus pack ?? Includes spoiler probably not listed in brochure. Plus 20" wheels which look great and are fine with VDC?

I have piano black and it was scratched when I got it, but it's miles better than the other trims.

The price list i have says:

BMW Icon Adaptive LED Headlights = £1195 (only with 5AC) High-beam assist £95

The Visibility Pack lists = £1295
BMW Icon Adaptive LED Headlights
High beam assist

So same headlights I believe with no washers saving £100

But what are the 'Adaptive Headlights' - code 524??? Doesn't say LED or Xenon.

Ah those ones, sorry. I think as possibly mentioned above they are not full LED just the DRLs are LED with a Xenon main beam.

I think!

Thanks for your reply mate.

Not keen on bigger wheels and ultimately adding the pack is more cost. My current car has 19's and they look absolutely fine. Not too small at all.

I've seen people online using gesture control for the 3D surround view which I think could be handy. I doubt I'll use it for anything else though.

If I don't get piano black then it will have to be Aluminium I guess. don't think the wood options look right.

Yeah I guess if you are happy with those wheels then not worth it.

the 3d surround view can be move around via the idrive in the same way, you can just turn the idrive wheel and it will rotate around the car in the same way. It's upto you but if you are trying to cut bits out it's one I wouldn't bother with.

You could try this with the dealer. Tell them that you are not happy about not being able to see all the interior trims before ordering the car and that you are having to choose the piano black as a default but you are only willing to pay the same as the wood trim costs. That is what I did that would drop another £300ish off.

Good idea RE the gesture control then. Have you tried it and know that it works the same with the idrive controller?
I doubt the dealer will give me anything else off towards the trim...I've pushed my luck already! Why are the trim options so poor?

I'll try and do a little video tomorrow of the idrive controlling the camera on 3D view.

Would love a carbon trim and may get mine wrapped at some point or replaced if they release some.

A video would be great. Thank you! So you don't miss not having Gesture Control then? Do you use the 3D surround much and is it as useful as it looks?

I was also thinking about wrapping my trim. Let's see...

It doesn't mention a spoiler in the brochure but I would love one. Can these be got elsewhere do you know?

Code 524 is just the adaptive function for the standard LED headlights. No more xenon for the G30.

Great...Thank you. So what's that difference in these and the 'ICON' version then? Other than a lot more cash!

LED indicators, and different angel eyes and more adaptive functions.

I have gesture control as it was part of the technology pack. But don't use it, I have use it a couple of times by mistake changing the heating temperature and it changed the track on iPhone

The spoiler is now part of the M Sport Plus pack, it got changed part way through my order, they increase the cost of the pack by £150 and add it to my bill told them i wasn't paying. When the car turned up it didn't have it anyway. There are spoilers starting to appear on eBay now and you can buy the m sport spoiler or m performance spoiler and have it retro fitted.

Here is a short video of the 3d surround:

Nice spec, well covered. I found it hard to stick to a spec, temptation to keep changing.

Same here
You have done well to get a slot
Some of us will still be waiting whilst you swan around in your new car.
Surprised there aren't more on the roads yet, I have only seen one out in the wild and that looked suspiciously like a YE66 plate demo ?
Maybe the fully loaded ships are sailing our way....

Amazing...thanks for taking the time to do this. I ended up keeping it in the end. Sorry it's taken a while to respond but I've been at my dealer most of the day finalising spec and signing paperwork. Hopefully get my car in around 6 weeks...Bring on collection day!!!

I spoke to my dealer today and he showed me the difference between the two. Aesthetically they're slightly different and I actually prefer the 'Normal' LED version. They are a traditional looking BMW light and for the cost saving I went with them.
I asked if there was any difference in functionality and he said no.
What are the differences that you've heard about?
