Floor Mats

Does anyone know if floor mats are standard or do I have to buy them when I pick up my car?

Thanks

You should have had the dealer through them in (and a full tank of gas) for free.

Not standard, but many dealers will throw them in. You should ask for them for free.

My dealer gave me the choice between the carpet or the rubber mats.

He told me the cars do not come with mats so the dealership buys them for the customer ("freebie" for me) . I told him I wanted the carpet ones (which are more expensive) and I bought the rubber mats myself at a discount

My dealer through in a set of carpet ones (which match the interior very well), a full tank of gas and some nick-nacks.

Floor mats are not included. If your dealer is kewel...they will throw them in...but not standard. If you end up having to buy them...they usually want to charge you $120+

...if you do not mind waiting/ordering, check out either of these for about $90 +/- shipping

Since I did ED, my car came with mats. However since it was raining, my dealer threw in some cheap clear plastic ones for the front too.

The carpeted floor mats are givin to you when you do the European delivery. I also had the dealer throw in a complete set of 4 rubber mats when the car arrived here. To answer your question, they are not standard (in a 40k plus car at that).

Thumbs down

My driver side carpet has a major issue - the velcro came loose and its slipping in underneath my brake pedal.
The makers say they have quality isues from BMW to fix and will replace it soon. The USA carpets come from Mexico I believe.
The carpets are made under the design spec of BMW Germany and is not as good as the E46. The E46 carpets and 2 plastic clips to hold them down, and for the world of me I cannot understand why BMW chose to change this design to Velcro in the E90. The carpet edges pull up and it looks untidy. These small things play a role in the overall satisfaction of your car.

If you have the choice, get your dealer to throw in the expensive carpet ones (for summer use) and then buy yourself some rubber all-weather ones for the winter (they're cheaper).

I'm thinking my CA saw Brokeback Mountain a few too many times, so I hope he doesn't like me toooo much (not that there's anything wrong with that...); plus, he did give me a paper receipt with my mats... that's something, isn't it?

I am still waiting to get my velcro parts that were left off my mats (the part that screws into the floor). Mine slip away, so he said he would send them to me, I haven't seen them yet!!!

It did have some pocket lint on it...seriously, he paid for the carpet mat & I bought the rubber ones at his discount. Living with up north with the snow I need two sets of mats.
P.S. longtran, thanks for the great DYI write-up on the black line swap, I'm going to try it tomorrow!

The floor mats do not come standard with the car. They cost $150 from BMW but you just need to tell them to throw it in on the deal. I had mine thrown in when I purchased the car overseas.
