help-what's this loose wire near battery

I replaced my battery today and when I was finished I noticed there was this red and blue wire not attached to anything. Is this for an accessory I don't have? My car is a base with no i-drive.

Am I that predictable? ;-)

To easlily disconnect and spare the battery during long haul shipping, BMW installs some cabling at manufacturing in cars that initially are shipped overseas (VO option code 818). The connector you're showing is the only part that permanently is supposed to remain in the car.

This battery cut-off cabling starts here:

and follows a path underneath the rear seats (some find wires and a similar connector there) into the trunk where it plugs in the connector that you found:

Well there you go

Did you do a direct replacement with the OEM battery or use something else. I have heard some using the OEM BMW:Mini batteries to save weight. Just curious as I know I will be needing a new one eventually.

Thanks, so should I just tuck it away and ignore it?

I went to Autozone and got an AGM battery for $155 and downloaded Carly.
