Suspension Compliance has deteriorated
Hey guys – lately I’ve been noticing that my car feels more unsettled than usual in Chicago roads. It feels less compliant and not as comfortable on uneven roads. The best way I can explain it when I’m taking an on/off ramp and the car goes over an expansion join/small bump the rear of the car feels like it skips ever so slightly; just enough to make it slightly uncomfortable. Same time last year it wasn’t as pronounced, same tires, same wheels no changes to the car.
Before I go ahead and change my shocks, I figured I'd ask here to see what it could be. Car: 2010 E90 335i RWD with M-sport Package (on stock sport suspension and suspension components) Miles: ~80k Aligned in 2016 and the car still tracks perfectly straight. |

At 80k is combination of struts/shocks and deteriorating bushings.

I'm not on FB but can refer you to few shops depending on the area you live in. It would be good idea to get it up on a lift and inspect.

My factory rears were done 1t 60K and the fronts not long after that. I switched to Bilstein B8. Same ride height and I couldn't be happier.

Check out what my strut mounts and bump stops looked like at 112k miles.

Whoa! That's incredible! Perfect timing too as I've been spending the past 30 minutes putting parts together for my order. |

Also, you might want to consider sway bar end links too. They're common wear items and inexpensive. In my case, I had already replace the front thrust arm (i.e., the one with the crappy hydro bearing). And, I did the other front control arm for completeness in the front. Find a good place for alignment and enjoy the ride! Also, watch out for the damned potholes in our area; they do wonders for our wheels, tires and suspension.
