Replacement wheel locking socket
Went out to change winter wheels to find wheel locking socket must got damaged at last wheel change (should've checked after puncture was fixed! ).
How easy is it to order a new one from the dealer? Thanks |

They need to order them from Germany & it can take up to two weeks. Had to order one a few weeks back after mine got chewed up, £24 i seem to recall. I had four of the security lock nuts absolutely rock solid and they would not budge, garage over tighten them. Had to pay £50 for them to be removed by one of these guys who guarantee no damage to the alloys when removing them.

Nightmare! I have a feeling I may have to do the same.
At £24 + 2 weeks for dealer. Wondering if one of these sets that does all wheel nuts may be easier? |

Might be worth phoning a few dealers as they do stock some? Rob

Will try and pop in to local dealer. Hoping locking but not damaged and I can avoid getting it removed. |

Update
Called dealer today. Explained position. Asked what my registration plate...was then told "you need key number xx". No checking I was the owner etc. The good news is I tracked down a right bolt and will hopefully have it by Thursday. Other dealers quoting 2 week wait from Germany. Fingers crossed it appears! Worrying thing is - it just shows how easy it is to find out what key fits a car!!! Beginning to think I may just leave the locking nut off...... |

I'm taking the car back in next week, and they have promised to do the job for free and waive the storage charge. Maybe that was in response to me threatening to award them 'nul points' in the satisfaction survey.
