Tow Hook License Plate Mount

Hi everyone. Just picked up my 540Xi last week and in IL we need to have a front plate. I'm looking for a tow hook license plate mount. Can anyone recommend one that fits the G30 well that doesn't stick out from the bumper too much? Thanks in advance!

My cars is supposed to arrive soon too and I have been pondering about this issue a lot lately. With the new g30 we cannot add the plate that automatically folds in and out, I looked at the car up close and with all those sensors it's impossible. The only option is what you are talking about but honestly I think it looks ugly. I believe if u search eBay u will be able to find what u are looking for. Goodluck and post pics if u do this.

We've always had a license plate on the front in the uk and other countries. There is a specific area in the centre of the bumper where you'd put it and it looks fine. What's the issue?

OK i'm totally confused. What is the point? The license plate to the side looks completely ridiculous and much worse than where it belongs. Not to mention OCD issues...

I agree, the only system I think is nice is the one u can fold under and back up like a regular plate but the new g30 u cannot have that system there is sensors all over the front bumper.

But why can't you put the front license plate on the front bumper like we have in Europe ??

Simple answer we like the clean look with no plate in the front. Take off your plate one day and look at the car and put it back and look, I know u will most likely like it without a plate, makes the care much cleaner and sexier.

Have to disagree. Cars in the states look weird without he front plate on. Specially cars design to have the plate.

@G30 : you argue about how a car looks better without a license plate, in a thread where someone NEEDS to add it (I guess for legal reason).
And I also agree that European cars are designed to have a front license plate (I'm not talking about super cars) and that empty space you have in the US looks strange to us, and it is even worse when you add it randomly placed on one side.. It is just a question of getting used to it I guess.

No argument here, just stating my opinion, where I live front plates is necessary, I have gotten plenty of no front plate tickets (ain't cheap in NYC $100+ per ticket). I absolutely love the cars with nothing infront, I love the clean look of the car. I feel like adding plates takes away from the beauty of the car, the back has a dedicated plate area which I think is fine.

Errr so does the front. Don't you think Bmw would have designed it differently if hey didn't have to keep it relatively flat and bland to hold number plates?

Still - beauty is in the eye of the beholder so I feel for you to have to succumb to legalities in favour of beauty.

But w4termelon is right - offset plates look horrendous.

Everything is subjective.

I lived in Germany and had to put up with front plates. Hated it. Hated it worse when i brought my 550 back to the states....

Yeah BMWs are designed to have front plates, but only euro ones, which are narrower. The euro plate fits neatly within the lines on the front, the thick US plate doesnt, and requires garish front mounting brackets.

When i came back to the states i took off the front bumper and it looked so wonderful and clean, but since i moved up to Illinois i have to have a plate.

I put on the offset usmillworks holder and love it.

It might look weird if you arent used to it, but to me it adds some cleanliness and aggressiveness to the car, and id say at least once a month i get comments on it or questions on where i got it, from strangers.

I like to think of it like a nametag - if you have to wear one, do you wear your nametag on your chest, or under your chin?

Yes the plates in the states are hideous, the euro plates are a strip and look way nicer, if we had plates like that I wouldn't mind, the states we need to drill holes in the bumper with a bracket. I don't want anyone drilling any holes in my 80k brand new car.

No it isn't. That is just what we were taught to say because people with license plates under a headlight are people too.

I live in Austin Texas and have had no front license plate on my car for 12 years with no tickets and only one warning. I think I will try to go without it on my new G30 due in two weeks.

Great choice it will look much nicer, I might have to do the tow hook plate, I am not a fan of it but I do not want to pay anymore tickets.

Blah blah, yeah yeah, i get it, you don't like it.

I could say the same thing about your obnoxiously boring choice of black leather and basically silver paint on an order that youve been publicly complaining over, but you know, we both drive cars that we enjoy for our own reasons. You know, because...
