Clear bra hood options...

so what have people been doing on their hoods when it comes to a clear bra. I did see one custome install that was the entire hood. are most people going with the kits vs full hood? are the power domes getting peppered with chips yet???

I believe we can answer that question. We have already installed paint protection film (aka clear bra) onto 9 M3s since they starting moving off the showroom floors 2 mos ago. All of which went with full hood application in addition to the regular areas - Mirrors, Lights, front bumper, Apillar, Trunk. The power dome is an area that is fairly susceptible to chipping as we have seen. Protecting at least the full hood is a must for those who 1) do not like seeing a 5 ft line going across the hood 2) do not want to deal with wax / dirt build up along the edges 3)obtain added protection especially if you outright bought the car.

A northern climate vehicle should be protected on all leading edges.

The fim on my '05 was removed after 120K miles. The paint is PERFECT underneath the film. The paint is damaged where exposed. Cover everything.

My vehicle was protected on: the leading hood edge; the front bumper; the headlights; the fog lights; the mirrors; the door handle cups and behind the rear wheels.

The 1/8" exposed perimeter, at the film edge, has sand-blast damage.

Also, removing the adhesive is a pain in the butt, after removing the film, but well worth it.

The Full Hood is a must. Premier did a flawless install, even around the "power dome".

OC,
Did you do the whole front end?

I'm having Premier do a custom full front end clear bra tomorrow.

You'll be very impressed with their work and attention to detail. Sam and Chris are great to work with.

I Just got the full hood, mirrors, lights, custom full bumper and kit corners for the fenders.

Yes, you treat it like paint.
