CR Spotless?
Hey guys, I'm thinking about buying a CR Spotless Water filteration system. What do you guys use if anything to take care of the hard water when washing your car. Here is the link of the product

I bought a CRSpotless a long time ago and loved it. It did it's job well. I hated having to re-buy resin though. Even though I had bought the large unit, I still ahd to rebuy resin every 4-6 weeks since I would use it 3-4 times a week. Once it reads .20 its time to replace.
I soon began not using it and just washing different. Keeping the car wet while washing in sun, using ONR, washing in the early morning, ect. I ended up selling it since it was more novelty than useful to me.

Sam's Club sells the single canister one on their website for $179.00 I think. Probably best for occasional (1-2) times per week washes.

Yep the costco price is the same as the detailers domain price. I was also considering this but not sure if it's worth it with the cost of the resin refills.

I think it would be helpful to know what kind of water you have. If I knew my water had low ppm then I would go for it since I'd know I don't have to replace it that often. I wonder how much the tds run for, if they're reasonably priced it might be worth buying one.

From my limited understanding, hard water is water with lots of minerals, these minerals are disolved in the water and what causes the spoting is the water evaporates and these minerals are left on the surface of the paint. These minerals some how scratch or etch the clear when sitting on the surface. It seems as if I'm at the borderline of hard/soft water from your map.

i have had my CR spotless for about 5-6 months, and i have never replaced the resin... (keep in mind that my car was MIA for 3 months) and it's reading 36ppm. it's time to replace, but i still do the final rinse with it because it's still better than the regular water until i replace the resin.
