Meh, I liked the 'driving dynamics' part much better than e43 I test drove. Maybe it was the PS4S tires unlike winter tires in the reviewer's car

Weird, cause bmwblog was at the same launch at say it was better than the old M5. Didn't sound like they were testing the same car.

You really should not be so easily persuaded if you are seriously thinking of getting this model.

Great point. The BMWblog review mentions that others had to use snow tires. I wonder if this dulled/affected the ride enough to result for this reviewer to result in this write up?

All the cars are tested at the same launch event and have winter tires...

Thank you, I glossed over that in BMWblog the first time but makes the difference harder to understand. The other reviews for the g30 have generally been quite positive so I am keeping that with me. There's always going to be naysayers

Oddly, the line that stood out to me was "Additionally, those sporty seats aren't particularly comfortable after an hour behind the wheel." What kind of body type does Mr. English have which cannot find comfort in some of the best seats available at any price?

Yes, that pretty much discredited the whole review for me - didn't seem objective.

That would be your opinion, that the seats are comfortable. The writers opinion is that they were uncomfortable.

English is, a former Telegraph and now freelance British journalist. His writing style is to basically criticize aspects of cars that others find brilliant. Unless they are McLarens or Land Rovers. He has a particular affectation for criticizing the handling of Ferraris, of all things. |

I had a 2014 550i -- fast, silent, very luxe and boring as sh*t. I was coming out of a 2011 E63 AMG and I thought the 550i would be a slightly saner, more daily driveable "executive athlete" as BMW now positions the 5.
I was excited for the M550i (HATE this new naming convention of fake M's but whatever, that's another thread). This could've been the poor man's M5 -- stiffer, competent suspension and driver-oriented steering, plus the nuclear-thrust engine. My fear is that this review is indicative of what's coming from other journos and websites. Fast is good. Fast and "disappointing"? Oy.
