E91 Door lock ?
Hey everyone
2006 E91 MSport Basically , my front passengers door won't open with the fob. It opens with the handle from the inside ( doesn't auto lock after driving over 5mph ) but does lock from the outside when I want to lock the car with the fob. I opened up the fuse box and changed fuse 57 with a 20amp ( which already had a 20a fuse in there ) and still no luck. All the other door locks work fine and there isn't any strange noses when I go lock it with the fob. Is it a case of changing more fuses or have I got an aculator problem ? I understand that there is many threads similar to this , but I haven't seen any which you can still use the fob to lock the car from the outside ? Kind regards , Sam |

Could be door actuator , i had similar problem with my e91 2006 drivers door, and the solution was a brand new actuator , if you need one i have one brand new for sale as i brought one for passenger side and one for driver side but i never installed the passenger side.

I thought if it was the aculator then I wouldn't be able to lock/unlock with the door pin or even unlock the door ( when locked ) with the inside handle ? Totally puzzled with what's happened. I haven't even looked into the pricing of an aculator

Mine it worked as normal from the inside, it was just outside i was unable to lock the door, and unlock sometimes. But it can be something else like cable broken?

So you'd suggest removing the door panel to investigate? How annoying , was hoping for a few more months of trouble free motoring before I had to get hands on with repairs / failure investigations.

Horrible job to diy..Did one on mine and shredded the skin on my hands doing so!!
Not a hard job really, just very fiddly due to lack of room and visibility. Same symptoms as above. The actuator is within the whole locking mechanism, so the whole thing needs to be replaced inside the door. There are guides on the web to diy it if you fancy saving yourself a few ££ |
