Having looked at various threads and you tube videos I still cannot display the temperature. I can get in the secret menu, (Lock on, enter my code number and then go to 7; temp display) but it then bounces back to the main menu.

Can this be done on the facelift E90s or does it only apply to the pre LCI models. Is there any type of monitor that can be attached to get an idea of when the car gets up to operating temp etc I can plug in?

I had the same problem. I had to use torque in the end on an Android tablet.

coolant temp or oil?
my lci e91 does coolant via the hidden menu as you described

My 335i has oil temp on the dash 😂
