What's going on guys? So a couple of months ago, I decided to replace my factory struts/shocks, and opted for the OE replacement Bilstein B4 for vehicles equipped with sport suspension.

I ordered a kit from ECS Tuning which included front struts and rear shocks. Once installed, I noticed that the front end sits a lot higher than it used to. I expected it to maybe sit a little higher since it had the original struts on it, but it sits at the same height as a 335i with non-sport suspension. The mechanic said that it just needed to "settle", but it hasn't changed in almost 2 months now, and it look awful.

When I pulled up the part number for the individual struts and Googled it, nowhere else can I find that this is for the sport suspension. I'm going to be throwing the car up on the lift today to verify that they shipped me the correct part number.

Has anyone else had a similar experience where the front end sits much higher than it used to?

It could also be a preload issue, meaning the mechanic tightened everything with the car unloaded on the lift. Other than that, if your old suspension was sagging due to age, new struts will put it back to where it is supposed to be.

get some measurements on flat ground and compare those measurements to the posts in threads about ride height.

Also what model 335i do you have? E90, E92, or E93?

B8 is for Mtech/Sport suspension, B4 is for regular suspension

On the ECS Tuning website, they list two different B4 kits. One for vehicles with sport suspension, and one for vehicles without sport suspension. So they're wrong then?

Just checked the Bilstein website, and they do indeed offer 2 different struts. One for car with sport suspension, and one for cars without sport suspension. From what I read, the B6 and B8 series just offer more performance, but the B4 is the OE replacement which should be the same.

B4 is closer to OE spec.

If you lower then vehicle and/or want more performance B6 or B8.

I kinda just had it in my head B4 for non sport, B6 for sport and B8 for being lowered

1. If your old struts, strut mounts, and spring pads were severely worn, replacing these items can "raise" your car up to .5" - back to factory new height.

2. If you compare your car to a non-sport model, make sure it is one that also has a brand new suspension, else it is "sagging" too.

3. If you re-used your old springs, your car will not "settle" more.

B6 (HD) and B8 are considered performance shocks and are upgrades (stiffer) to OE suspension. B6 is for standard suspension , while B8 is for cars with sport suspension.

Yes there are two part numbers for the B4.
Regular height and one for Sport.
The B6 is a sport replacement for the standard/Non-MTech/Sport.
The B8 is a replacement if you have MTech/Sport or lowered suspension.

The Bilstein application guide give corrent information.
I've had plenty of arguments with people that think the B6 should go on s sport suspension car.

So yeah, due to the worn struts, my car was sitting lower in the front which looked much nicer. I guess it's time to find some lowering springs now...lol
