F32 435i, JB+, and warranty

So I recently just got a CPO F32 435i, and coming from an F30 328i this car is a blast. Prior to the F30 I had an E92 335i which had a JB4 alongside a few bolt-ons and it was an amazing car to drive, and although my new 435i is loads more fun than my 328i, I still miss having that power. I don't entirely need all the power my 335i had, but I do want a portion of it. I was looking into the JB+ alongside an intake and HFC downpipe.

Now my main concern is this car is CPO so it does have warranty. What risks do I run in regards to getting the JB+ and voiding warranty? To me warranty is far, far more important, so if it comes down to it I don't mind driving my car stock but I do hope to get some more opinions on the tuned 435i drivers who might have more experience and more knowledge to share. Any insight will help and be much appreciated!

well, i'm not a 435 owner but i'll toss in my two cents anyway. i have an n55 x3 and up until i got bootmod3 i was running a piggyback similar to JB. its really a no brainer man, if you have a warranty issue and need to take the car in for service, take off the piggyback. the dealer is none the wiser. no one here can tell you with absolute certainty how the dealer will react to any of your mods. if they feel like being dicks, they'll deny you warranty service if they can correlate it to your mods somehow.

if it were me, i'd stick to reversible mods until CPO has ended.

Thanks for the input man, yeah the JB+ is piggyback and the installation and removal is simple it seems to be a no brainer to do it, but I've just read online that people said the dealership can see if the car was tuned or not regardless if it was piggyback and removed prior to coming in if they really wanted to look that deep into it, so I just wanted to see what everyone else's experience was

If your warranty is the biggest concern, the answer is simple...Get the MPPK upgrade and/or Dinantronics Stage 1 or 2 and a Dinan CAI. You don't have to remove anything when you go in for service and won't have to worry about CEL.

About two months ago got a CPO 2014 435i M-optioned RWD so i hear ya. While we're waiting for the Dinan Stage 4 bits, am at basic Stage 2 (COI and tune) and it makes a fun difference in the launch/low-end rev range. Pulls nicely now. Really is what the 435i should have been out of the box imho. In the upper rev range she does slack off a bit (BY COMPARISON to the lower range), and Stage 4 solves this situation. IMHO Stage 2 is probably all one 'needs' for that proper BMW feel. Above that is, well, where driver's have a bit more fun

BTW: If you're really getting into things, then you may want to also get the BMW M LSD. Rear wheel hop, etc is real when you start adding power to that stock 435i open diff.

So it seems that MPPK and/or Dinantronics flash seems to be the best way to go in my position? I may just opt out to save up for it if that seems to be the best case. Thanks for the input guys!

i'd go Dinan over MPPK, as this gives you a path to upgrade as desired.

IMPORTANT: Make sure you replace the stock CP with a better one by ER or others. The stock CP is known to break even with stock boost, let alone the added pressure when boosted.

The JB+ goes on and off in seconds and does not leave any faults behind. It's about as safe as you can go if you're going to modify the car.

I'm in virtually the same boat as the OP; CPO 2014 435xi. Up here in Ontario, we have 94 octane widely available. Does that leave much room above 93 octane for any power gains? Or would going with a 93 octane map yield the same results? I know without data logs, this is kind of a vague question...

Considering going the JB+ route as well since it seems to be the best bang for buck as well as doing a good job in giving me a peace of mind as well since removal is so easy. Does anyone know what power gains the JB+ offers paired with an intake and down pipe offers?Just looking for a little more fun out of my car haha

Mind you, JB changes boost values which are permanently logged in the DME. So if the dealership has to do any in-depth diagnosis or when it comes time to warranty high-cost engine components, they'll know right away that there's been adjustments to boost values and will be justified in terminating your engine warranty...

If you are getting a Jb+ , i would just remove it before the visit. It takes less than 2 minutes

Jb+ + Fabspeed catted downpipe has been a very popular option for us

When in doubt, take it out.

The extent that BMW goes to investigate is typically not that extreme.

We've seen BMW warranty engines and turbo's on fully modified cars. It depends highly on the approach, the dealer and how they are feeling that day.
