LSD technical question? Mperformance / Giken / OEM M3 differences?

Which one is closest in terms of operating and driving feel in comparison to OEM M cars LSD?

M performance have 30% acc lock and 9% deceleration, as I am aware, Giken has almost same lock figures as M diffs? How good that 100% lockups are in terms of daily driving and possible understeer?

It's great how real M differentials work, perfect on track and totally usable on street I wonder if Giken is same or similiar to that?

There are concerns Giken can't handle above stock power levels.

The OEM F8X M3 differential is a different beast. It's tied into the car's DSC. It should be more capable than any mechanical based LSD.

I have had the M Performance LSD on my car for the past 1000 miles. It's great. It's a huge improvement over the stock open diff.

I posted a DIY on the install here: http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...=982938&page=8

Have a 2014 435i and the open diff was, well, what it is. Upgraded to the BMW M LSD and it is muuuch better. This is especially true during turn in when you want to push out of the corner apex. Also, during straight-line speed wheel hop is pretty much eliminated. It really is a must-have, imho, if you are adding HP/TQ.

Installed M performance LSD on my 340. Huge difference compared with stock open differential. Anytime when you put heavy foot on gas, it will help the car to use its single side to go and you can feel this power transfer. Amazing!

M-diffs are electro-mechanical. Completely different animal vs the mechanical diffs you're talking about.

Just remember the M-Perf LSD doesn't need fluid changes at the same intervals as the Giken.

It's worthwhile up grade if you plan on tracking or keeping the car. I've wanted one for a couple of years, but I have to sell my car within the next 18 months.

Thanks for answers. I have done some research and yes, real Ms are different beasts, but closest to them would be giken or even better drexler differential, they have closer to M, higher locking values and behave slightly better on track than m performance one.

Rumor is that the M-Perf LSD is a Drexler unit.

I think it is, but with different settings and fairly lower lockup values.
