AA Strut Bar
Hey All,
I've been doing some research and have come down to the Active Autowerke Aluminum Strut Bar or Turner Motorsports Aluminum Strut Bar. The only problem I'm having is confirming the Active Autowerke Strut Bar is compatible with my car. 2011 335d. On the below link, it shows that it is compatible. https://thmotorsports.com/active-aut...r/g-56462.aspx However, on the Active Autowerke website, I can find no mention of a 335d I know the picture on the AA website and the link I shared above aren't the same unit, but I've seen the same bar pictured in the link below shown on other websites as compatible for the 335d. https://store.activeautowerke.com/pr...trut-brace-bar Can anyone shed some light on this for me please? I have tried searching and this is where I've ended up. If the AA bar doesn't work, I'll be ordering the TMS bar. Thanks in advance for your input! |

order it from thmotorsports if it doesn't fit its on them... you should not have to pay for shipping or stock fees since they said it fits.
or just order the TMS bar.. if you look at the TMS page they list off all the same stuff as the one you want... I would "assume" it will work.... |

None of my business, and slightly off topic, but are you sure you really want to spend your hard-earned money on a strut bar? At least one well-respected speed shop told me our 335d chassis were rigid enough as is, and the money could be better spent elsewhere. Having said that, I continue to ponder replacing my OEM one with the OEM M3 version.

Besides, with the price of modding these cars and the money I have set aside for such activities, and I'm sure you know the costs, the price of something like this is almost an afterthought |

I'm told the tie in to the firewall is superior to the straight across only aftermarket approach. Go over to the suspension/chassis/brakes forum. The 335d chassis is no different than 335i. I did the M3 style one for $190 total. I have a thread on this here on M57.

I've heard tell of this upgrade. Do you know if one could install both the M3 style AND the OTE type? |

I went with the M3 bar for another reason, but with that, along with an ECS 28mm sway bar, the front end is pretty rigid.

So, I decided I'm going with the Turner Motorsport aluminum front strut brace. I came to this conclusion for a few reasons. First, the price difference is approximately $100 more for the Active Autowerke strut brace. Second, I plan to go with a Wiechers rear strut brace, and the TMS strut brace shares a similar look/finish to the Wiechers. I like uniformity in the aesthetics of my modifications
Third, it appears the AA strut brace blocks access to the windshield washing fluid reservoir. While it's only a minor inconvenience, all the small things add up in the end. The front strut brace I'm going with: https://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-1...e82-128i-135i/ The rear strut brace I'm going with: http://www.wiechers-sport.de/en/shop...-hinten-detail |
