RHEINGOLD information or how to? Any idea where to find

Hi all,

I have just upgraded to RHEINGOLD and would like to know the best place for information (how to check dpf last regen etc)

I was previously using INPA for my older BMWs but this is a lot different

Thanks

It's in the service functions tab.

Rheingold has a great built-in search function and service instructions. It's all within the application from what I've used before anyway. As Sensible said above it's in the service function tab.

If you need a tutorial on general useage of Rheingold I would recommend searching on youtube to familiarise yourself with the application.

Does it have the control unit tree like ISTA/D? If so, click on the DDE and open up the menu. This is where all your live data will be, and the distance since the last regen, regen status, soot loading etc. All depends on the engine and DDE. Later models will obviously have a much much wider range of data available.

I've been watching this thread as I didn't really know how to use ISTA D other than to read faut codes, I did try YouTube but there's not a lot of information that I could find and no one seems to talk in the videos explaining.

Given that you can pull live data does ISTA D provide the same features as INPA like reading Injector values and resetting the MAF (not sure if it's resetting but it's something like that after you clean it) as I've put off doing a lot of things as INPA doesn't work at the moment but ISTA D is fine.

Cheers.

ISTA/D does all of INPA and more. It has guided troubleshooting, repair instructions, torque specs and more, INPA does not.

However, there are some situations where I will use INPA instead. Scanning an E model car that i cannot afford downtime is one (ISTA is known to randomly kill FRMs. You never know when your luck is up)

Wow, thanks for sharing the FRM issue, I've been having a look around the internet and I've seen a few posts about it. It's worrying that it happens with Diagnostics, I was hoping it was more of an ISTA P issue when programming. It appears there's a bug with certain cars and the resolution was to use the extended warranty 8 years and 120,000 miles but all of that's passed now anyway haha. Looks like I won't be plugging it in that often then :/

ISTA/P is more likely to kill head units in E9x and E84 models, and Minis but in the past 4 years i've not killed any.

Yeh it's a pretty unfortunate thing that dealer level diagnostics software can do harm. Im not sure if the ICOM is part of the cause but just keep it in mind. For me, it's happened mostly to LCI E9x models, ie xenon with LED tails
