2 and a half days for an oil change...

is simply...ridiculously...too f*cking long.

I'll borrow the horse from ---->

BMW's "service" philosophy is a joke.

Maybe they're "testing" it on the streets. Be sure to note down mileage before going in.

Yours is probably the only one they know that will be run in and they may have arranged some test drives for future customers.

Only joking.

Same here...

Im going to have to remember to reset the Odometer and my speed/fuel consumption on the computer to see if techs are having joyrides in my car.

Maybe plant a small recording device that can record over a long period of time...

Why so long? mine only took 2 hours. One day is the max but sheit 2 1/2 days is way too long.

Mine took all day. This was a month ago and they still do not have a new oil filter for me.

Mine took a day and a half - supposedly because they had only one tech at the dealer I went to that was trained to work on the new M3 and he was not available most of the first day. They also ran into some issues with what the key was telling them to service/change and had to try to reprogram the key. Who knows. They did take it for a 4 mile "run-in." That seems a bit far, but not far enough for me to make a huge deal about it. I'm probably going to try a different dealer for my next service.

No don't do that! Because then they can just reset it when they're done. Just make a note of your stats before going in and perhaps take a pic. Depends how much you trust your dealer though.

i'd imagine that they don't have the proper filters or other parts and that they are trying to find them somewhere. @fifth, even if you do reset the tripmeter and consumption...what can you do if it turns out they were joyriding? it is kind of one of those shitty situations that you can't fix besides never going back to them again or refusing to pay for the service.

I brought my M3 E90 DCT to be serviced at 1200 miles. I received a call from the service dept stating that they drained the transmission fluid and now they have to get the fluid directly from BMW. The car has been at the service dept for a total of 7 days.

It's been a little while since we had a dealer messing with the 'lifetime' DCT fluid. Are you certain they didn't add the wrong fluid before realizing they needed the DCT specific fluid? Hopefully, all they did was drain it. Hate to have another transmission replacement story.

All I know, going to make sure the transmission doesn't get touched before handing the car over. This fluid fiasco is just sad.

I called the manager of service dept yesterday and told him it was ridiculous that he had my car for this long. He called me back by the middle of the day to tell me that he was able to retrieve the transmission fluid. Damn it felt good leaving that place reving to 8300 rpm!!
