ProfiDiesel 76mm Turbo-back Exhaust System
In my continuing search for an exhaust system for my car, I came across ProfiDiesel. I have been having a nice conversation with them on Facebook messenger regarding their 76mm turbo-back exhaust system.
Does anyone have any experience/opinions on this system? Any info regarding fitment, sound, quality, etc...? Seriously considering it. Any input is appreciated. Thanks! |

Johnny was one of the first (if not the first) US diesel customers

Just found another company. APM Tuned. Anyone every heard of them? The have a cat-back system for $1,150 + shipping. Looks pretty good. More worried about fitment though. You don't see 99% of the exhaust system 90% of the time.

Was just quoted a really good price (less than $1,100 shipped) from Profidiesel. Full 76mm turbo-back system.
How can the price be so low? Do they just mass produce them since they're in Europe and have more customers there? Or will I suffer in quality and fitment department? |

You better ask what kind of stainless it is. That could bring price down if it were 200 or 400 series SS. Go for 300 series stainless if possible.

I did ask that. He said they use 304L, specifically. Apparently it's an extra low carbon version of 304 stainless. It minimizes carbide precipitation from welding. |

I do have the PROFI and I've had it for about 2 years. I might have been the first to give them a shot. There price was great, 1100 shipped with down pipe. Even though it's made in EU everything mounted perfectly, bends/ welds/ clamps and mufflers are very well built and the system is good Stainless Steel and light. Mufflers are small and sound great. I did have to have an EGT-dodge Cummins bung welded in the DP. In EU they don't use it but in the US the runners BPC does. Just tell profi you need the EGT bung and they will do it. I've spoke to them numerous times. The black cross member under the car in the middle-profi didn't use or install but I liked it for the middle of the car as support. When I put the cross member back on I saw it hit profis pipe. I just heated and bent down the raised lips on the plate. It was easy and now it was good to go. You don't have to use it but I did. You will be extremely happy with there whole set up. I have the whole exhaust shipped from DHL in 8 days from EU. I have a ton of pics if anyone would like. I'm also on our face book page. 631 987 4009

That's the good stuff. This designation is 304L. Carbon content is <0.04%. This actually minimizes chromium carbide precipitation in the weld zones. Chromium staying in solution is what protects the alloy from corrosion. Same with 316L, it's badass big brother used in pet chem industry. Less carbon to steal the chromium away from the grains. Sounds like the good price has nothing to with inexpensive materials.👍

I've had the opportunity to hear many different exhaust setups on 335d's and my opinion is that a full straight system is not an improvement in sound. It's overly loud and boomey outside with substantially more noise in the cabin under freeway cruise vs any of the systems with straight through mufflers. Sounds more like a straight piped 3rd gen cummins than a sports car. It's a coarse and unrefined sound that just doesn't match the character of the car.
Again, just my opinion after hearing ~10 different cars in person with various setups. My personal favorite is still a modded circuit werks/mazo racing 335I cat back. Something with the dual pipes running all the way back changes the sound vs a single 3" splitting at the rear. It's much deeper/lower pitched but still smooth and not harsh. |

I see. Well There aren't too many systems that have the dual pipes. Supersprint makes one that does, but it says it's for Euro-spec models only. Can anyone confirm whether that is just emissions related or if the mounting points are different. I was thinking of buying a downpipe, using this midsection, and going custom the rest of the way back (if the supersprint mounting points are the same). https://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-1...tion-1-y-pipe/ |

My profi system didnt fit that well and required me to source my own proper EGT bung and weld it in. It sounds fine and looks fine, though the tips provided are meant for a swaged exhaust outlet and the provided system is not swaged so the tips dont fit right (I ended up tack welding the adjustment screws top and bottom so it doesnt rattle around). It sounds fine, pretty much like every system with dual mufflers. Material seems fine, but its not really a concern where I am so I didnt concern myself much with that.
Bottom line, its by far the best complete exhaust for $1050 available for the 335d, but its not the best system out there. |

Somewhere around a year ago. Its a fine system, but it requires some planning and work to make it fit right and "look" right. Definitely cant beat the price though, you basically pay the normal DPF-back exhaust price and get a downpipe free.

I see. My thinking is to buy it and customize it to my liking. Which is easily doable with the money saved going for the Profi system. |
