Smile engine oil level too low

After taking the keys off my e90 sedan, this "engine oil level too low" sign always comes on and I went to my dealer for this but they say it doesn't need a oil change or need the oil topped off.

This sign on the computer never came on til a few weeks ago and I don't know why it keeps coming on. You guys perhaps know what's wrong?

i never got an oil change yet. I did get the oil topped off a few months ago when the car was at about 12000 km; now its at 18000 km. The dealer said i don't need an oil change til i reach 20,000 km.

Once I got the oil topped off the other time, the oil change sign that came on in the computer was gone.

this time i can't figure out why the oil change sign always come up in the computer when it doesn't need an oil change or need the oil topped off. I guess i'll just bring it back to the dealer again.

It could be that these engines burn oil just like the older engines do. As I mention in another post, my 02 X5 burns 2quarts of oil inbetween oil changes but BMW says that is normal.

There is a reason BMW did away with the dipstick!

had the same problems

the same minimum oil level warning came on for me about twice and ive had my e90 for about 6 months. concered, i took it to the dealer and he said that a few of the e90's had a problem with a oil pressure sensor which was giving a faulty readout, so he took the car for about 3 hours and had that sensor replaced. im not sure if this is eactly whats happening in your car but the symptoms sound the same
