xHP experiences and feedback
Hi Guys,
I have a 330d with the N57 remapped to around 310bhp. I'm toying with the idea of the xHP but would like to see feedback from those with first hand experience. The car is a daily driver and I do a lot of miles and wouldn't want to compromise comfort however I also like to crack on at times and I find the auto box is very slow to react to kick down requirements and will also hang onto gears for too long. I'm hoping one of the off the shelf maps will answer my prayers for a punchier box. Any feedback would be greatly received. Spec and BHP of car? xHP stage flashed? Any impact on MPG? General feedback including harshness of shifting? |

Spec and BHP of car? got a JBD
xHP stage flashed? 3 V1.2 Any impact on MPG? -.2 after flash but I think have some CBU General feedback including harshness of shifting? the stage 1 in D and stage 3 in S is great. I feel that stock hold the gears longer during non racing deceleration or drop in speed. I do a hand full of driving in the 45-50 MPH range the car shifts to 6th around 47 mph, but shifts pack to 5th at 45 mph. I do find this a slightly aggravating because if hover in the 45-47 range the car will shift between the two quite a bit.. if I remember stock allows the down shift from 6th to 5th at a lower speed.. I plan to change that up at sometime and drop the speed on a few gears to fit my driving style in the city... also I by accident deleted the stock flash (completely my fault) when I went to see about changing the settings in my flash, but I had an issue remaking a backup ?? there since has been an update maybe that fixed that issue.. all in all I like it and would not change back despite my little "nags" |

I have the latest stage 3 flash, and a few remarks.
Normal driving in D mode is pretty good, but it can use a tweak when going more than 50% throttle. It shifts too early under heavy load. S mode is pretty harsh for regular driving, but I don't feel it was intended that way either. I have yet to use it on a track where it was designed. Manual mode with paddle shifters is actually pretty good. The fast response and quick shifts make it much more fun to drive and dick around in the car. The elimination of M2 start is pretty annoying. I can hold the paddle to stay in 2nd gear for launches, but I have to creep ever so slightly to get it to shift out of first.

I also have the Stage 3 and agree with Wrecker335D
Drive mode is pretty solid. I do notice some slow shifts when the engine / trans is cold. S-Mode is not really drive-able on the street. Too harsh in the way it shifts M-Mode is awesome. Quick shifts up, Rev Matching down, much fun on a winding roadway. I have over 10k on the Stage 3 Trans tune. |

Thanks for the comments so far Guys.
I'm feeling that the Stage 3 is a little too extreme for my driving requirements and that Stage 2 would be more suitable. It's a shame to lose the instant paddle response and throttle blip on kickdown. How effective is the throttle blip in action? Are there any experiences of Stage 2? |

the newest version of the stage three gives you the stage 1 map in "D" and the all the stage 3 goodies in "S/M" you can take full advantage on popping the shifter over and mashing the skinny pedal to pass a car or have fun, then put it back in "D" and have a smooth comfortable ride that is improved over stock and still let the baby sleep in the back seat.
I haven't heard of anyone getting the stage 2 so if you get it do a review!! |

Maybe you didn't get the update to work. They changed it probably a month ago. Unless the tune got messed up when they changed the version format, which is definitely possible

Installed xHp today with map 3. Boy do I like the difference in manual and sport. Manual is just fantastic. D is fine. I don't notice much difference. Between the Jarek 2.8 and xHp my car is transformed...so much more fun.

You need to try the custom DWR tune. Large improvement over the standard stage 3.

I went with the Stage 2 tune. I have BPC stage 1 tune on engine. I figured they would compliment each other well. I do attend HPDEs about once a quarter and can't wait to try the combo.
The D mode is definitely different. Short shifts and is smooth. S is a different beast. The gears seem to last longer (just higher rpm before shifting), the shifting is fast and somewhat hard when you're on it (think of letting out the clutch hard in a manual car). Not being able to launch in M2 is kind of shit though. Overall definitely worth the $. I wanted to ensure some longevity so I went with stage 2. Don't think I would notice the difference in S mode shift speed btwn 2&3 it's already so fast |

When stopped in M1, just pull the paddle(or shifter) to shift to M2. It should stay there. |

Personal experience. I used to have stage 3 v1.0 hybrid ( I think they used to call it 1.2). Now I did stage 3 v1.1(non-hybrid). I have not tried the new v1.1 hybrid yet. But personally I like non-hybrid more. With hybrid and in D I liked daily driving. But as soon as you had to give it quite a bit the shifts were a bit too early for my liking. It just hammers the gears but too early. In S/M mode it is awesome but certainly not for everyday. Now, in v1.1 non-hybrid it's great staying just in D and it's better merging, etc. Will see how it will affect the mileage.

Just loaded DWRs tune tonight. Very nice. all the jerkiness is gone, tranny shifts so smooth and fast. I swear the car actually feels faster now.
