Used M-Sport vs New M-Performance brake kits
Im sure this has been beaten dead, but I cant find it.
Im looking to upgrade my F31 328d brakes, I like the blue but only comes in M-Sport. The gold is nice as well. From what I read the sport have 4 piston front and 2 rear and it looks like the Performance have the same 4/2. Only difference is the rotors 340/370. I keep finding M-sport calipers (with out rotors) for 900-1000 (shipped and used). So as much as I like the blue calipers its looking like its better to buy NEW M-Performance bake kit and no worry about usage or anything. Question is, with installing both kits are there any thing else that are need to be done. i.e new brake lines, programming, etc.. from what i read m-sport is just bolt and go but haven't found anything about m-Performance . |

As for gold or blue... if you've got a good shop i'm sure they'll do a good job fitting either, not sure you're going to be much cheaper with used parts here though.

As pointed out, yes they will need to be coded. You might want to change the update lines too since you're already getting it done. I know I'll be upgrading it all together at one time.

Yes and yes why but a BMW if it cost more than a geo? As far as power not too concerned with my car or others. Face it we don't have drag cars lol. I want to upgrade the brakes because they look awesome and better braking is a plus.

Agreed! As much as I like the blue . For 200 bucks more I get the gold m performance front and reads (exclusions read rotors). But do the m performance fit the 328d? I'm finding that hard to find if it does

Haven't seen anyone upgrade their lines in the mix. Do have part numbers or threads I can look into? If the current lines work for both I'm ok with keeping them since it's not going to be crazy brake stops and what not lol

https://drive.google.com/open?id=0Bx...3FvWjdBMTRTdTQ You've got part numbers for the kit + for the rear disc (small size p2, large size p3) Yours should be page 2, 328d US, 328d xDrive uses the larger rear discs p3.

For me I bought some from M sport brakes with 340mm rotors...I was about to pull the trigger on some M performance rears, when I found a used M performance set in gold including F/R rotors and brand new ECS brake lines. I powder coated the brakes myself to get the color I truly wanted. You will have to hunt for deals and it may take a while...but the new M performance kits do not include rear rotors...so that will add another $400+ to the price.
I am halfway done with my brake install...fronts installed Friday...rears getting done today. I love the look and I did it for aesthetics as well....changes the entire look of the car, IMO. you can see the new brake lines in the last picture. So I would buy used and get them powder coated any color that really compliments the color of your car.

We all are different, that is what makes the forums great...we get to see everyone's take on their perfect car, whether it be go fast parts, or purely pretty parts. Happy modding.
