Need help with tires for Style 284 Wheels (not sexy I know...)

I believe the 284s are 17X8 and I'm running 225/45/17 Continental Runflats currently. They are awful and I'm probably going to go with non-runflats - quite possibly the Continental Extremecontract DWS 06. I'll throw a couple cans of Fix-a-flat in the trunk and hope for the best...LOL.

What's the largest tire I can run on the 284s safely? I've seen 245/45/17s are possible. Unfortunately new wheels aren't in the budget currently. Thanks!!

245/40 or 245/45?

Anyone have thoughts on a 235/40 or 235/45? Thanks.

245/45/17 is what you'll need. I ran 245/40/18 which is the same rolling diameter without issues. Speedo was almost dead on too.

This set-up corrects the ah..."inaccurate" BMW Speedo??? Will the tires not overhang the rims too much? With the 225/45 set-up the tires look a little small for the rims.

Concerned about the front tires rubbing.

Thanks for all your help!!

It won't really overhang. It'll be very square. Tire rack recommends 7.5"-9" width.
