Clarifying track limp mode

Not trying to rehash. Has anyone with the appropriate gauges (P3, etc) observed the oil or coolant temp overheating when tracking the car leading to limp mode issues? Or is this problem really just low fuel and/or something to do with the Dinan Sport tuner? We're heading to MSR in July and COTA in the fall, and I want to make whatever mods necessary to run hard all day. If it is overheating, opinions on best bang for buck mods to keep her cool? Thanks!

I have run mine back to back in 85 degree temps and no overheating or limp mode...we are running advanced group so lots of hard laps. I use my FourStroke app and OBD2 scanner to confirm temps when I come off. I have had 3 limp modes all caused by low fuel ( 2 for me 1 for friend)...now I will not go out with under 1/2 tank for a full session

Sounds like a verdict. Keep the tank above 1/4. Thanks, hope it was a blast!
Nice time, top speed on the back straight?

Not super hot. Definitely fuel. Puff of black smoke then limp. Power cycle and the car was fine.

137 on GPS, 140ish indicated no issues with fuel starve running NT01's even down to 1/4 tank. Pulling max 1.6G's in the corners. Car would easily do 2:31's in the winter.

1.6Gs is pretty high. Are you on slicks? Fuel starvation is a real problem. There are several of us at track days that see it. Perhaps the 2/3 tank time was a fluke, but it still sucks I missed a session.

1.6G is peak. 275 NT01's on 18x10 wheels, stock springs/shocks with coilovers -2.75 camber. I ran 10 sessions at COTA and didn't fuel starve or get any limp errors and it was near triple digits outside.

Just got it with 3/4 of a tank of gas. I'm glad your car isn't having the same problem, but mine sure is.

That's not fuel starve if you're getting it with 3/4 of a tank.

Not sure what's going on. Got it 3 laps in to a full tank in my last session today before in limped. Car runs fine after a restart.

For those following along, I've got a CEL now. Will make a dealer appointment. Pretty annoyed at all the drivetrain errors. Car seems to drive fine with the CEL.

At least this means I can bring it to the dealer now and ask them to fix the car.

http://www.superstreetonline.com/fea...idpad-testing/

Old article, but the Formula car they tested pulled 1.64 G on racing slicks. And most of the cars tested the delta between the max G and average through turn 2 ar WSIR is on the order of 0.04 G. That means you're pulling lateral G forces close to what an 80's F1 car could pull.

Either your instrumentation was off, or a little camber on low-end R Comps transform the grip level on the M2 to formula car levels.

Or option 3?

For those following along, I apparently had misfires in multiple cylinders. No fix was applied. We’re at wait-and-see if it happens again.
