Question regarding h&r sport springs and stock shocks

Hey guys,

Quick question. So im planning on working on my suspension next and i was wondering...im at 50k...will my stock shocks be able to handle the lowering springs at that mileage? Or do you think it would be a better option for me to go coils? The coils plus install is almost double the cost...

If I were you, I would not hesitate to switch over to coils. Correct me if I am wrong, but you're lowering your F30 to achieve a combination of aesthetics and function, correct?
Well, lowering springs on stock shocks with 50K will get you the aesthetics, but you'll pre-maturely wear out your shocks. OEM shocks are not valved to withstand the abuse lowering springs place on the F30 chassis. You could go with the following option:

Option A: Lowering springs with performance shocks like Bilsteins, Konis, etc

Option B: Coilovers which are designed to work as one single unit

Hope this helps.

Unless you've got adaptive suspension and can get the Dinan shockware, I agree with zcspec. That being said, I've got 65k on my car and just installed H&R sports with the adaptive dampers + Dinan shockware and it drives beautifully.

Not many choices here for installers, but got the springs new for 240, install 380, alignment 155 at dealership. Opted not to get the modified bump stops and haven't had any problems - H&R doesn't recommend modified bumps with their Sport springs. If you're handy at all you could probably install yourself, the DIY seems pretty straightforward. I just didn't want to mess with it.

I got Shockware a few months ago when it was on sale for 50% off so only paid 209 (dealership didn't even charge me labor).

I'll throw an option at you ModifiedAH3, fly me down, provide me the tools and I'll do it. LOL. I use to live in the Bay Area and OC so I have family/friends down there.

I would see if the BMW M performance suspension works on your car, I see you have an AH3. It's an OEM quality suspension and would lower your car and make it handle great.

Getbmwparts has a great deal on it.
