E90 Tsunami hit's our City!!! Other manufacture's cry!!!

I have been reading these posts about the IS350 ect, and what is weird to me is the following:

In South-Africa Lexus is not a big seller, it is seen as Toyota's attempt to build luxury sport cars and that they suck at trying to do so!

In my city we have more than 100 E90's and I swear I have never seen even one Lexus IS350, I have seen 2 of the smaller Lexus but that's it.

Here every Luxury car is either a BMW or Mercedes and these days lots of Audi and Volvo.

BMW by far is the top seller in Pietersburg South Africa.

In my city this is what people think about these car brands. (talking to people who can afford them)

BMW = the ultimate car to get (The benchmark) (young & young @ heart) /Performance/ Class/ snobish

Lexus= Toyota

Mercedes= Rich old borring people/ Luxury/ Class/ snobish

Volvo= Soccer mom/ family car/ Safety

Audi= Can't afford either BMW or Mercedes/Wanted a BMW/Trying to be different

Our BMW dealer sells about 60 E90's every month compared with 8 C-class Mercs per month.

Just my 2 cents

in the US its like

Lexus: Smooth and Quiet cars, with superb reliability and Customer Service. The cars are also cheaper than competitors. There are very big sellers here.(Many Ex- Benz owners)

BMW: Young & young at heart. Classy, snobbish people, driving enthusiasts. Every teen's dream car..., Yuppie(Young Urban Professional) car. Also people buy because it has the best resale value.

Benz: A lot of people who buy the car just for the badge and don’t know about their flailing reliability. Also mainly a car for older people now a days.

Audi: People who want to be different and also can't afford the premium price BMWs demand.

Acura: Young people who cant yet afford BMWs.

Infiniti: For people who wants to be different and want a Japanese brand.

that’s what I have observed for the most part here in Suburbia(Chicago's).

I agree on the Lexus/BMW/Benz comments, but I don't think you can accurately say that those buying Acuras just can't afford BMWs. Have you seen the sticker on an Acura RL?

Those who get Infinitis and Acuras probably appreciate the combunation of value, reliability and luxury that those brands offer. Before the e90 came out, MANY people preferred the overall value of the G35 to the e46. Many feel that BMWs are overpriced and you get better value with Infiniti.

I'd say the real difference between BMW and Infiniti/Acura is that BMW attracts more driving enthusiasts and those who care about the badge.

Here Honda and Nissan, Kia, Mazda are seen as cheap transportation for the masses of the population. Not even anything to get excited about.

Toyota is the same but with very good reliability.

You will never see somebody here with a little bit of $$$ or class drive a Honda or Nissan and if they are they do, they are frowned upon by the general population.

Here it's all about the German and European car brands, none from Japan etc, except the Nissan 350Z get some sort of credit.

oh wow, its totally different here, certian nissan's and toyota's have class here....mostly their SUV's. Honda is also very nice, allthough i dont like the looks of their new accords.

For Example a nissan maxima, honda accord, w/ leather seats and all are very nice cars.

The maxima comes standered with xenons.

And I know that Nissan SUV's and toyota SUV's are pretty classy, like the Murano, 4runner, Pathfinder, Armada...etc..etc

Remember most people in America are SUV crazy... all those soccer moms.. :rocks:

Hell even minivans are classy now a days, the toyota seinna and honda are pretty damn luxurious. Im talking about the fully optioned ones

Im sorry I forgot to mention that SUV's from Honda, Nissan, Toyota, hold some prestige here but definitely not the cars. The cars are seen as cheap transportation but not the SUV's.

Uhh...we don't all have pet lions.

Actually, most poeple who live in the "big city" and surrounding suburbs don't have anything bigger than a dog as a house pet.

If I want to see an animal - I have to drive (about 2 hrs) to the Pilansburg Game Reserve.

We certainly DONT have lions roming the streets. :-) However, there are alot of different sides to our country...

But...you can only get a 320i for the same money (in dollars) you paid for your fully loaded 330i.

Food is cheap though :-)

I agree with Broken1, South Africa does have these beastly animals but they are all convined too nature reserves, zoo's, private game farms etc. They dont walk around in our cities and small towns.

But these are our pet lions in the pics.
