E91 325D replacement Help
Hi Guys wondered if you can help.
I currently have a Jan 07 built 325d E91 Msport UK Car. The diff is whining so I am looking to replace this. Looking for a replacement off a breaker car I have found that the connections change. EG - Either the prop shaft physically screws into diff or it have a 3 bolt flange. Mine is the 3 bolt type and is so I am lead to believe a ratio of 2.35. (my serial number is KU28205) The car I have being broken is a 2008 jan built 325d with the serial number KU28491. Can anyone help me to see if this will fit my car before I hand over a ton of cash for something I cant use. Many Thanks Kev Last edited by Kev_G; 05-31-2017 at 03:36 AM.. |

You need to see sticker on top of your diff. It will say the gear ratio. The replacement diff should have same ratio unless you're intentionally wanting it to accelerate more quickly. If you're fixing the noise, I would suggest keeping same ratio and not cause complications for yourself. It might be hard to snap a picture of your diff's sticker if you haven't removed it yet. Those telescoping mirrors are wonderful to attempt at seeing the sticker. If you are able to see the sticker, get a helper to take a picture of the mirror's reflection.
I did look up your E90 325d and what i found is that is uses a 2.35 ratio but you will need to verify. I would advise taking pictures of your input flange as well as where output 1/2 shaft flanges are and make sure the replacement unit matches. Good luck |
